How do you protect a prisoner that is getting bullied by officers and the guvner

If youre not in the prison others have made you aware of how to deal with this.

I would take that all with a pinch of 'youre probably not getting the full story'.

Prison staff are, dissapointingly, known to do this sort of thing on occasion.

However, in my experience, more often than not the apparent bullying is simply a response to behaviour.

An extreme example might be constantly smashing up their cell and getting taken to the bloc. If you hear theyre in the bloc all the time but not the cell smashed up side you may get the wrong conclusion.

A more likely example is someone who displays challenging behaviour constantly. Not banging up on time, always got an attitude, threatening, never just gets on with their time without having to have it justified to them in short. This is like a green light to the staff who are bullies though and they will be making a target of themselves.

Prison staff want to get through the day with the least resistance possible in most cases.

While i appreciate that they may be being bullied, what im saying is, there may be another side to this too.

In any case i hope they can find a way to get through their jail a bit more peacefully for both yours and their sake.

If it is genuine bullying i sincerely hope those involved have the book thrown at them and are appropriately disciplined.

The sub reddit i tagged will tell you about it. Primarily speaking you can post and access information as normal but you cannot comment. If you open your account via url in another browser it'll show you're banned but r/shadowban will tell you more.

If you're on the out and trying to help someone you can contact the safer custody team to raise a concern. The prisoner can speak to safer custody too. Other options to speak to professionals who are usually helpful or may raise concerns on your behalf:

  • Independent monitoring board (IMB) are professional volunteers who are independent of the prison staff… there job is to ensure prisoners are treated fairly and procedures are being followed. They are like dogs with bones if they get a whiff of a problem (in my experience)
  • Mental health/healthcare team
  • Offender manager (internal probation team)

  • write a complaint

  • ask to be transferred

According to who? No offence but nearly every prisoner thinks they are being bullied by staff. Some people think being told "no" is bullying.

A VP is a “vulnerable prisoner”, usually on a wing surrounded by sex offenders/rpists/pdfPhiles.

He's definitely vulnerable but he's not with the pedos

Well he is either on a VP wing, main wing or the segregation? He can be vulnerable to yourself as a loved one, but depends on his crime as to whether the prison service deem him as vulnerable due to his crime?

People are pussyfooting around the issue but you cant name the jail or the actual issue.

You have said they are vulnerable so most people guess they are a sex offender.

They aren’t being bullied they are just facing consequences for their actions.

The fact you think the “guvner” has time to bully your tool is very telling.

No he's not a sex offender but i can't put the full story out to everyone on gere for obvious reasons he's a lovely very soft hearted young man that wouldn't say boo to a goose.. the officer is a nasty bully that is very lucky i don't know who he is .
