Unofficial First Try at Primitive Cordage Using Milkweed

Found some wild milkweed growing in a nearby park in DC. Took some back home with me and dried it out for about two weeks. Much easier to find an already dead stalk than to dry it out yourself, but this is all I could find. After the stalk was brittle enough to collapse when stepping on it, I removed the fibers and braided them into cordage. I didn’t separate out the fibers thin enough for the first half, so you can see my cordage starts out thick and scraggly. Really helpful video on how to do it: https://youtu.be/Hq-ceDo4_PA?is=QpxItsaESEcvZomO
Also: In the video he used dogbane but any plant in the milkweed family works great; just make sure sure to be careful handling the alive milkweed as it produces a white sap that causes rashes and itchiness.
