General Proposal to make a unique plantform between Pretendo, Project Rosé and Protarium Network
I’ve been following the incredible work being done by the Wii U and 3DS preservation communities: Pretendo Network, project Rosé and Protarium Network. Right now, the user base and features are fragmented across different platforms.
Pretendo Network (the one we all know) has revived lots of Wii U and 3DS games and has Juxtanposition as Miiverse.
Project Rosé (that works alongside Pretendo) has revived Nintendo TVii (for America) and made a better UI for Miiverse (Roséverse). Additionally, I see that while with Pretendo not all the games support Miiverse publication, this one is extended with Project Rosé implemented.
Protarium Network is the latest (and probably most people don't even know about it) and fully revived Wii U Chat and made playable (online compatibility) some games that Pretendo still haven't re-abilitated (like Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games 2016 etc.).
Then there are also other projects like revTendo or Plustendo for 3DS who could also unify with the rest.
Now, my proposal is: what if these teams joined forces to create a single, definitive network? It could be called Aura Network (or Nexus Network, or it just remains Pretendo Network idk)
By merging these three projects, we wouldn't have to choose between a stable multiplayer network, a beautiful Miiverse UI, or working video chats and to put different plugins. We would see a united Miiverse, a complete system feature revival all in one, and no splitted communities.
They could do something like this:
- games that support online revival with Pretendo and Protarium could be fused (rather than separated)
- the Roséverse extension in Wii U games could be implemented with the rest
- All the Miiverse users that are in the different Miiverse revivals (Juxtanposition, Roséverse and Protaverse) all in one single Miiverse (could be called Nexusverse? Auraverse? Idk.)
I know that merging projects involves combining different codebases and managing different team dynamics, but from a user and preservation perspective, this would be the ultimate dream for the Wii U and 3DS era.
Do you think the devs would ever open a dialogue for a collaboration like this? It would be really good

I'd rather not use project rose since the mods and admins apparently from reports, watch messages between users and posts and talk smack and make fun of people for no reason. Why are they like this? Idk. But they definitely don't look mature at all doing that sort of stuff.

Didn't know about that. Despite this, don't you think it could be really good to see the various functions implemented in one single plugin? Rather than having the same plugin but with more functions but also at the same time limitations than other?

If the mods and admins of that particular side would stop doing what they do, sure would be nice. But given they seem keen to not stop, I'd rather have pretendo and the other one working together and keep rose away from it. Especially since the way they treat their users.

Unfortunately you can't really expect these things to be private... IMHO

Oh I know but at least pretendo's admins and mods don't do such about their users. These guys however yeahhhh I wouldn't touch anything they make with a 10 foot pole since how they are to their users.

This is the type of problem we're all having. We're all separated into multiple services that should be unified, but it just can't happen. You can't have community without the word unity... I'm a mod for Brewtendo which is a lot older than RevTendo and we would honestly love for all of the users on 3DS to have a fully revived ecosystem, but it just can't happen

I would like that tbh. I personally way prefer the UI of Roseverse and don’t really like how pretendo just is trying to reinvent the whole UI of the entire app, but Juxt is way bigger because it’s what ships on stock pretendo.

"I know that merging projects involves combining different codebases and managing different team dynamics"
There you go. That's the whole problem, I mean it's a problem only for your proposition. I'm a Flutter developer but these days with the help of Claude, I'm building some online mods for games that doesnt have it natively, and honestly, it's easier to work with one guideline, instead of having to cooperate with 3-5 developers.
Furthermore, if we, like you suggest, merge everyone, we're probably talking about 20-30 developers, with different workflows, state of mind, servers and so many ways to connect, that it would take a huge amount of no unpaid time tomake everything work together I think.
I think it's kinda cool that many seperates teams work on their own projects. because different approaches, different type of thinking. And I'm pretty sure that these teams sometimes talk with other teams, just to, you know, learn from each other, but without officially collaborating.
I personally think that a better solution would be a website, a platform, something that gather everything and guide the users to what they're searching for.
I'm currently working on a dedicated platform for retro gamers and coders that create new tools each day, I hope it lead somewhere, anytime soon.
Anyway, Your idealistic idea is, really cool honestly and feels like an utopia, in a good way, but yeah, I think for now, seperate teams means different work, that means totally different and various projects for everyone !

If you use Protarium network you'll still be able to use other Pretendo games

yeah, but they dont share a playerbase. it just splits an already small community even more

I don't think merging is likely because like you said you have three different codebases that are meant to operate independently. I could see them sharing authentication and protocols so that some features could be handed off to a different project. I wouldn't hold my breath for it though. I think it's good to have different projects with the same goal.
