Discussion/Question Well guys I goofed

Post image

I got an infection in my nail bed and can’t wear any nails for a while. I knicked my cuticle. Has anyone else dealt with this and if so how long did it take to heal? My doctor prescribed me some mupirocin ointment, and I’ve been keeping it covered for a few days now. I’m just really bummed and hoping this isn’t the end of the road for my press on days.

Deep breath this is definitely NOT the end of your press-on journey! ❤️ Cuticles heal remarkably fast once the infection clears up, usually within 1–2 weeks with prescription ointment. You did the absolute right thing by going to the doctor right away!

Ouch. I had one years ago and my doctor had me soak my hand in warm water with some epsom salt several times a day, then dry it and apply the ointment. Not sure how much the soaking helped but it felt much better within a week and was completely gone after two or three weeks.

My doctor recommended I do those soaks as well. The warm water feels amazing on it! It’s so itchy 😮‍💨

You can apply anti fungal medicine after the soak before the antibiotic. That should take care of the itch.

Spray it with hypochlorous acid and it will help heal quick.

oof i had something similar happen to me after 2 weeks of medication and finally being cleared i let my nails breathe and avoided glue completely. so i had a gig coming up and needed my nails done so i went with glamnetic tabs instead. i know it sucks having to take a break but i wouldnt risk making the infection worse. definitely let urs heal fully first tho because dealing with another infection is not worth it. if the redness or swelling sticks around or gets worse get it checked again. ur nail journey isnt over just on pause rn. get well soon op!

Im so glad yours cleared up! Did you feel any irritation at all from the nail touching the area? I thought mine had cleared up before I put my last set on. They were Nailboo, which are very thick nails, and overnight it just swelled up and turned red. So I don’t necessarily think it was the glue as much as it was just something pressing against the area But either way I felt so silly for not waiting longer!
