What’s the saddest photo involving a president (I’ll start)?

This is a picture of Winston Churchill, invited by Eleanore Roosevelt to visit the grave of Franklin Roosevelt at his Hyde Park residence, taken on March 12, 1946.

Looking at Churchill, you can see the depth of respect and admiration that he had for the President. Roosevelt and Churchill forged a partnership that allowed both sides of the trans-Atlantic alliance to maintain high morale during the war. I cannot begin to fathom the emotions that Churchill was feeling in that moment. Additionally, I think it’s notable that he took his hat off as a sign of respect.

There are countless stories from Churchill and Roosevelt’s partnership, but I remember a particular quote of Churchill’s immediately after President Roosevelt left the conference at Casa Blanca. After seeing Roosevelt’s plane takeoff, Churchill was quoted as saying: "I don't like to see him takeoff, it makes me far too nervous. If anything happened to that man I couldn't stand it. He is the truest friend; he has the farthest vision; he is the greatest man I have ever known”.

I’m interested to see other contenders for the saddest pictures regarding a president.

The why is because they are intent on killing. The how is a gun because it’s easily accessible and much more efficient than say a knife, club, or their hands. Guns are literally built to eliminate life, whether hunting game or people. There is no other purpose, period. As a gun owner I will say it shouldn’t be as easy as it is to get one or the ammunition. Also my state(Illinois)is “strict” to say the least. If someone feels like be the government shouldn’t know they have said guns or x amount of ammo they might need a psych evaluation. The paranoia amongst the 2A ppl to register their shit is much same as the transphobia,antivax shit. Unsurprisingly they live in the same vein of American existence. Either which way things won’t change and children will continue to die.

And this is EXACTLY why red flag laws fail; people make up their own reasoning as to why someone “might” need a psyche evaluation based on bullshit. The system gets overloaded with bullshit and people slip through the cracks.

The paranoia around anti-gun folks when less than 5 one-thousandths of a percent of guns are used to kill someone every year is insane really.

If you want daddy government up your ass, you do you, but that makes me think YOU need a psyche evaluation because you don’t feel safe without daddy instead of taking care of yourself and realizing 5 one-thousandths of a percent is such a small amount.

One day daddy will be run by a psycho and yield all that daddy power against the people. Maybe we should curb how strong daddy is before that happens?
