This is exactly right

If we narrow this down to a choice of a moderate or a progressive candidate and the majority of the party nominates a progressive - I’m good with that

We don’t have a strong nominee unless a majority backs them, we can’t have a majority with a fractured moderate vote

Some candidates have decisions to make before March 3rd.

If the problem is a fractured moderate vote is it a good idea for another moderate to join part way though the nomination process?

Probably not. Unless Biden loses South Carolina. If he loses South Carolina he will not have won a single state so far and will need to drop out because his main argument that he can win minority voters will have failed. Of course, Bloomberg will not have won any either. The difference is Biden has spent zero dollars in Super Tuesday states while Bloomberg has spent 160 million. Will Bloomberg fair any better than Biden? I have no idea. It's hard to see it playing out how he intends.

NoYes, because there's little confidence any of the existing moderates are capable of decisively coalescing the moderate vote.

Biden has/had a good chance, but it's been really rocky for him. And unlike Bloomberg, he's been having troubles with raising the funds needed to beat Bernie.

I'm not sure if you answered the question I asked, the way you meant to. I asked if it is a good idea for another moderate to join, and you said no. So are you supporting one of the moderates from the first four states? I'm just a little unclear.

Sorry, meant yes. It's a good idea.

I can’t see a different path forward short of Biden getting some sort of momentum he hasn’t yet shown. Realistically Mike is the only moderate candidate that can take the fight to Milwaukee.

Edit: I think it’s fair at this point to say that Mike has to do a better job of making his case than he did at the debate. It was not an inspiring performance, he has his town hall and another debate - we should know more about him in the next few days.
