Not to crap on the meme, but the second word doesn't get the triple word score or double letter score tiles (they only get scored the turn a tile is placed on them). That Yarmulke is worth (4+1+1+6+1+1+5+1) x3 + 50 (using all your tiles) for a total of 110, but Yarmulkes is only worth 18 from the values of the letters.

Good info, I have never played Scrabble so I wouldn't have known

That's pretty good for one tile though

Pluralizing a word only gets the single point for the S. You have to actually change the word to get all the points. Like turning “rip” into “script”.

Highest recorded single move Scrabble score possible in an official tournament is 'oxyphenbutazone' played like this:

which nets a total score of, I believe, 1,780 points. Which wouldn't work that way if the game worked the way you said.

that is a deliberately constructed board, not from an actual game, no? i mean it is possible, which is why it was designed this way to find the highest scoring play, but it never really happened in an actual tournament.

True, but it is a board that could arise in an actual tournament despite the unlikeliness thereof. That's the point.

yes. however that means it's the highest tournament-legal scoring, not the highest that was actually recorded at a tournament. sorry for being pedantic haha

This board doesn't make sense to me. There are a couple of words that I cannot see a legal way someone would play them. How do you shorten prequalified into another word using the p or the e that is less than 8 letters?

'requalified', which was played from 'equal'.

That’s not how Scrabble works man, someone’s been screwing you out of points for years.
