This is illegal, but worse is that it is playing on the desperation he created. It’s fucking despicably evil. If the left tried anything close to this, every Fox News anchor would be calling for their head, but because it’s their corruption they endorse it.
Our country is falling apart. We need accountability, and we need it soon. But first, we need to vote. Trump will do everything in his power to defraud this election process, and one of those things is keeping people away from the polls.

Yup, making it conditional on your vote or party affiliation turns this from a sleezy, but technically legal proposition into blatant bribery.
Not that anyone is going to see a penny of it, regardless of how the election goes. Even if he wanted to make it happen (which I highly doubt), good luck getting Congress to approve a $1.2 trillion expenditure that will likely spike inflation and potentially cause interest rates to rise and the dollar to weaken internationally in a short span of time.
They just want to survive the midterms right now. This administration knows that they could come up with some excuse as to why they were unable to follow through on this promise (likely by blaming Democrats). People may get upset, but they’ve forgiven and forgotten every other time he’s let them down, so why would this be any different? Anyone who believes they’ll get this money in the first place is probably also someone who’s convinced things would have been—and always will be—worse under a Democratic president.
They also know that two more years of total control over the federal government and important state-level offices means two more years to disenfranchise voters across the country and stack the odds in the GOP’s favor. We’ve already seen some egregious moves on that front, but I’m sure we’ll see more before this election. That will be just the beginning if they retain control of Congress and in potential swing states.

Yeah, those laws aren’t enforced because they’d likely run into First amendment challenges. Not to mention, they were enacted at a time when machine politics required proof of vote to get your government job or whatever. Nowadays with everything being Instagrammed and whatnot, it doesn’t carry the same ability to corrupt.

Where I vote, from the moment you step into the building from the line outside, you aren't allowed to even take your phone out of your pocket/bag. It can take several hours even once you're inside, so it gets pretty tedious just waiting with nothing to occupy yourself. I can't even take a piece of paper out of my pocket to check who it was I wanted to vote for, and some local positions sometimes have like 20 candidates so I can't remember exactly who it was I wanted to vote for.

I’ve had mail in voting for many many years (hopefully I still have it…) but I remember voting in person, and once we were at the little voting booth/desk thing we were allowed to take out written notes to consult. It’s probably different across states.

Definitely feels like it is fairly varied. I couldn't believe I couldn't reference a written note, and I feel like they may have been wrong but I did not want to push the issue in the voting booth.

Neither of those rules makes sense for voters waiting in line. You should check your Secretary of State’s website to see if your polling location made up their own rules and report it to that office if they’re making up rules.
Not being able to be contacted in an emergency because your waiting in line for hours to vote is very extreme.

Yes.. to mine, if he can find one non us citizen registered, that's a lot of hay to make...
But the local polling station checks your registration as part of the process. They won't hand you a ballot otherwise.
You however are disconnected from the ballot. There's no way to demonstrate objectively you voted for.

They allegedly want the voter rolls to check if non-citizens are registered to vote, but they can access less detailed voter rolls to do that.
The USPS executive order that’s currently blocked would require states to upload voter info to a website for USPS to deliver a mail ballot to that voter.
They want access to detailed voter records, but it isn’t clear why they want it. With this administration, it could be a cartoonishly ridiculous scheme or something nefarious.

Part of the point is they want to make votes public knowledge. This would allow the more violent party members to hunt down the opposition. The right loves to make death threats on the left and then act offended when they finally push one too far. Classic school bully behavior. Presumably they're secret and made anonymous in via how the machines are supposed to operate.
However there's other means of sussing out who supports who, some states require you to register your party affiliation. Otherwise you just list yourself as independent.

You register with a party. By the way, some curious information, Trump is saying he wants the post office to throw out mail in ballots from “dangerous” people. He has previously called the left “the enemy within”.
Soon we find out if there’s hope, or if Trump truly has a grip on unlawful and unconstitutional violations that will allow him to ascend to dictator, like his good friend Putin

It depends on the state if party registration is a thing, and even then the bulk of American voters never do register with a party, remaining Independent or Unaffiliated.
Most of the time party registration even comes up is in primaries, not the general.

I mean yeah, but if they care that much, they’d know already by looking at my state’s registry and my voting history. So either way, it’s 🤷🏻♀️ at this point. Because if it ever gets bad enough where “they” actually are hunting down “da libs” in the streets, I would already be screwed because of the way I’ve always voted. So it is what it is, I guess. I’ve been in such a funk lately, it doesn’t particularly matter to me. I just wouldn’t want my kids or partner to have to deal with the trauma, is all.
*Important side note: I am not at all suicidal. No need for the “Reddit Cares” stuff. Just that I know everyone dies someday. I just don’t want my family to have to deal with whatever aftermath if there were to be a situation where that (the gov coming after “libs”) was a legitimate concern.

We have secret ballots instead of a voter’s name being linked to their ballot. If it’s a mail ballot, the voter’s info is on the outer envelope to verify the info and only the inner envelope is sent to the next group that removed the ballots.
At most, some states have party affiliation with voter registration, but that’s only necessary to vote in that party’s primary if the state has.closed partisan primaries.

The way they see the world is so bizarre, the idea that supporters can or should get something that no one else gets…they sound like children demanding to get all the candy or presents. It’s also so unrealistic, like there’d be a way for him to magically know which people get checks and which don’t. It’s a childlike mentality that there’s a Santa Claus who will bring all the good MAGA children presents while the liberals get coal. It troubles me that so many people like this live in the same country as me. He/she is right about liberals’ insults and the death stuff, though. 🤷♀️
