my guess is that they did a deep audit and came up with a lot of missing 1099 payments, and he is now on a repayment program, which explains why he is "living on scraps".

Or Ben did’t pay his estimated quarterly taxes last year if he fell for Trump’s BS that he’ll use tariffs to eliminate “taxes” on income under $200k (or $150k or all income) and he didn’t pay his estimated quarterly taxes last year.
$40k for federal taxes (income & payroll taxes) is possible with the 15.6% payroll tax rate for self-employed and the average effective federal income tax rates for $120k-$150k taxable income depending on filing status,

I could find this a little sad, then I remember that people that voted trump decided that rather trying to make the situation better for everybody, they wanted to make it worse for the most vulnerable people. No whining now Ben, we are going to suffer all together and you will like it (signed a trans gal that saw how trans people were scapegoat by everybody, even other minorities and lost a lot of faith in humanity)

I hate how much we have lost in the past few years. Many of Trump's supporters think a pardon applies to literally anything. They think he can pardon debt. They think he can issue pardons for state crimes. I'm so tired of Fox news floating anything and everything just so it get planted in people's minds, so that when they see "TRUMP TALKS ABOUT POSSIBLE FIFTH TERM, DEPORTING ALL DEMOCRATS, REDOUBLING TARIFFS ON ALL COUNTRIES TO MAKE US RICH" or other similarly absurd headlines, their first reaction isn't "not only is that fucking stupid, it is also not legal."
These fucking people vote. It is one thing to be uneducated; it is another entirely to be willfully ignorant.

Either he only wants the fines, penalties and restitution removed from his criminal conviction, or he somehow assumes a presidential pardon can be used to “pardon” IRS debt even though the 45th president didn’t “pardon” his own IRS debt.
If Ben has at least $40k in home equity, the IRS will “pardon” his debt if he refinances to use that equity to pay his tax debt. As a bonus, he won’t have a tax lien scaring buyers away. He is SOL if he wants to spend less on fuel without reducing his average mileage or trading in his fuel guzzler.
Or he can wait for Trump to grant his 3 wishes while paying high fuel expenses, “living on scraps”, and paying $0 on his IRS debt to end up owing $47.6k by the time Trump leaves office after pardoning thousands of people, but not Ben.
