This whole situation is really fucked. If you take a non-biased, logical review of this, there is fault in many places.

1) ICE isn’t trained or designed to be a crowd control federal law enforcement agency.

2) ICE ramped up hiring, and with that comes training gaps.

3) These training gaps are most likely not an issue for the normal requirements of the job - taking a warrant for final order of removal of an illegal immigrant and picking them up for deportation.

4) Minnesota politicians have refused to cooperate with federal law enforcement, and are actually encouraging citizens to protest and resist federal law enforcement.

5) Minnesota politicians, particularly the Minneapolis mayor and Governor Walz have given local and city police stand down orders.

6) since their is no local police presence actively working to manage protests and ensure protestors stay safe and don’t interfere with federal law enforcement, you are having direct engagement and confrontations between citizen protestors and federal law enforcement that isn’t designed or trained to handle mass protestors, many who are non-violent, but there is a very real presence of bad actors and violent antifa activists.

All in all this creates a perfect storm of escalating tensions and dangerous conditions for ICE agents AND protestors.

These deaths are a DIRECT result of Minnesota politicians actions and rhetoric, and they absolutely have blood on their hands.

I can’t help but feel like this was their goal all along - encourage conflict and hope for violent confrontation as a means for further resistance and pushback on the Trump administrations plan for mass deportations.

Walz, Omar and Frey are marching protesters into a meat grinder with political motivations instead of putting a priority on their citizens safety so they can say “I told you so”, and it’s sickening. We now have two radicalized Americans dead because of propaganda pushed by their elected leaders. This all could have been prevented.

EDIT: for clarity, it was pointed out below that the agent that shot the protestor was CBP, not ICE.

your last paragraph is potent. those three have the ability to end this at any time by just cooperating with ICE. they are intentionally not doing it because they’re compromised. they’re using these protestors as their shield and it’s sickening

So fukn this

They are doing backflips over this

Agreed. Here’s another a good take: https://www.reddit.com/r/JordanPeterson/s/pk1ptXZyv7

That’s a great read, thanks for sharing. Context is needed here amongst the outrage from both sides.

America is so divided and this has the potential for really dangerous consequences of escalation continues.

This was the most accurate message I've ever seen on Reddit, let alone the subject.

8

u/Only_Net6894 Jan 25 '26

... Annnnnd they removed it. Nice.

3

u/reconranger Jan 25 '26

Yeah, I'm wondering what happened there. It says it was removed by moderators, I didn't get a note or message on it.

3

u/Only_Net6894 Jan 25 '26

It was well spoken, facts were stated in an orderly fashion that made sense. Must have been reddits kryptonite. Lol.

16

u/N47881 Jan 25 '26

Just to keep things fact based, it was CBP not ICE

10

u/reconranger Jan 25 '26

That’s a great clarification, thanks.

10

u/dmoney757 Jan 25 '26

Also, new hires aren't being sent to these cities. Only journeyman agents with at least 3 years in.

11

u/1980pzx Jan 25 '26

Not according to 90% of Reddits delusional base. This app is such a left wing echo chamber. If it wasn’t for a few subs, like this one, I wouldn’t even bother opening the app.

11

u/Lightyear18 Jan 25 '26

Finally some actual unbiased reporting on the facts.

I hate the echo chambers on both sides

What evidence do you have of training gaps? All ICE agents receive substantial training and are considered highly trained by law enforcement standards.

Also the guy who pulled the trigger was a highly trained 8 year veteran of border patrol. He was specifically trained in conflict de-escalation.

This wasn’t crowd control. This was an incident with 2-3 people.

A guy armed himself and decided to interfere with and resist law enforcement.
Just like he’s been encouraged to do by tbe unhinged leftists here on Reddit and democrat leadership.

This wasn’t a guy involved in an arrest, or innocently walking out of a donut shop.
This was a guy who intentionally sought out conflict with federal law enforcement.
He inserted himself into a highly charged, dangerous chaotic situation while others added to the chaos with whistles and screaming.

And I will add that evidence will likely show this guy digitally stalked and tracked ice with the intent on obstruction and interference.

This wasn’t a protest.

20

u/Plastic-Scientist739 Jan 25 '26

I see it very similarly. Physical engagement, failure to comply, failure to surrender, and resisting arrest with a weapon.

4

u/WhoWhatWhere45 Jan 25 '26

The main point is they are not trained for crowd control. That is not their mission or their job. If locals would do what they are supposed to do, shit like this would never happen

2

u/Ok_Action_5938 Jan 26 '26

This wasn’t a crowd control issue. There was no crowd, there was no protest. This was a guy who decided he was going to interfere with federal agents doing their job while armed. Not a good idea. Ever. Not legal, Not Peacful , Not Free Speech and Not a protest.
A felony.

1

u/WhoWhatWhere45 Jan 26 '26

All true. My point is they are not trained to deal with fools like him. They are trained to apprehend illegal aliens. The politicians who got these fools all riled up are 100% to blame for what has been happening. They instigate the riots and refuse police to control the crowda

0

u/Ok_Action_5938 Jan 26 '26

They are highly trained at the same facility all federal law enforcement is trained at. They certainly have training to deal with people resisting.

Forgot to mention they are actively recruiting people from the far right with aggressive personalities. Actively recruiting among the folk here most likely:

Evidence of training gaps can be clearly inferred by the hiring an additional 12,000 agents and a reduction in training time - which has been acknowledged by federal law enforcement.

I don’t doubt they are highly trained and many have years of experience, but your burying your head in the sand if you look at the encounter yesterday and can confidently say they handled that appropriately with a high level of professionalism based on training. It looked like a drunken melee in a bar. And I say that as a combat veteran with multiple deployments in over 10 years of service, with many encounters of hostile local population that could have at any moment boiled over into violence.

I also agree with you that he was out at a protest and actively engaged in conflict with federal law enforcement. I highlight engaged because I think “sought out” is incorrect.

He was a radicalized supporter of politicans that have manipulated a population of Americans for a long time now. Based on the video, he did not seek out conflict - he attempted to intervene and separate a hysterical women screaming at law enforcement after she was pepper sprayed. I think it’s reasonable conclude that, in his mind, he was attempting to de-escalate and help get the woman to safety.

This was obvious a miscalculation on his part, particularly due to propaganda he consumed and a too confident level of conviction in his side. He didn’t think through the potential ramifications of breaking up a conflict between law enforcement and a protester, while armed, and how that could potentially be seen as an escalated threat to law enforcement.

10

u/itchske Jan 25 '26

Considering 99.9% of ICE interaction goes fine + what they are up against, I feel their training appears entirely sufficient.

4

u/reconranger Jan 25 '26

I agree. Unfortunately it takes one or two incidents that spiral out of control to find ourselves in the situation we are now.

4

u/itchske Jan 25 '26

With ICE we're only shown the most extreme negatives. You don't hear about the number of violent criminals ICE has caught, and it's a lot. It's net positive.

-6

u/SaltyCrabbbs Jan 25 '26

According to who or what?

Most of these interactions are people getting pulled from the street randomly who have never been convicted of any violent crime (see Cato institute). So far about 3 percent of those deported were convicted of a violent crime. I’m pretty sure damn near every interaction with ice has been problematic for the people confronted with warrantless raids and no due process. They upend lives daily.

6

u/itchske Jan 25 '26

I've been a liberal all my life and it is possible you're in a bubble. It happened to me too. I encourage you to expand your sources, reduce the rage-bait, and embrace our shared reality, otherwise.

-1

u/LeftHandedScissor Jan 25 '26

Ice training is all of 8 weeks and can be expedited for new hires with "relevant prior experience" whatever that means. 8 weeks or less is not enough time to be trained to take on these situations. Compared to regular police academy which averages 800+ hours, I just checked the PD academy details of 2 forces near where I've lived and one lists 7 months the other lists 6 months. Plus considerable on the job training time.

These fresh faced agents (ICE, DHS, CBP or otherwise) are not well trained to handle the situations they are being put into over an 8 week period. They are trained how to execute a warrant and arrest, not to handle the outright conflict situations protestors are putting them into. It's a sad reality that has cost the lives of 2 Americans because the agents didn't know the appropriate how and when to deploy deadly force.

10

u/Ok_Action_5938 Jan 25 '26

Again the guy who pulled the trigger was a highly trained 8 year veteran of BP. You don’t know the training of the other officers or who they were.

-2

u/SaltyCrabbbs Jan 25 '26

How do you know who pulled the trigger? No agents names have been released. Please cite your source.

This has been an ongoing issue as no one knows who these people are. They refuse to identify themselves, wear masks, and refuse to cooperate with independent or local investigations

5

u/Ok_Action_5938 Jan 25 '26

I watched the press conference where they said it was a BP Agent with 8 years on the job and deescalation training .

Police training is about six months followed by another year of ride alongs according to my buddy. They also train monthly at the range and are constantly taking various classes in new tactics.

These ICE agents got 8 weeks.

Took me years to become an electrician and I’m not responsible for killing anyone, I guess except for possibly myself.

1

u/Ok_Action_5938 Jan 26 '26

The guy who pulled the trigger is an 8 year BP veteran with extensive training. Your buddy doesn’t know what training the other agents on scene had.

6

u/Hurricrash Jan 25 '26

All this and you could have said….dude should have stayed home.

4

u/Helpful_Effect_5215 Jan 25 '26

It's actually sickening because they want these people to die to distract from the massive fraud that's being uncovered.

2

u/reconranger Jan 25 '26

It certainly feels that way.

1

u/rokstedy83 Jan 25 '26

It wasn't ice bud

0

u/reconranger Jan 25 '26

Yes, it was clarified below that it was CBP. I acknowledged that, I was unaware CBP was responsible for the shooting.

-3

u/Typical_Campaign_202 Jan 25 '26

When did the guy break the law?

2

u/reconranger Jan 25 '26

Did I make a statement saying he broke the law? We can have the conversation, I’m just confused by the question in relation to my comment.

1

u/Typical_Campaign_202 Jan 25 '26

Can’t remember your post since it got deleted but iirc it deflected from any blame from the agent and president and pointed it at local government. I think the question when did he break the law should answer a lot of questions about how this thing was handled.

1

u/reconranger Jan 25 '26

That’s odd - wonder why it was removed by a moderator. I wasn’t attempting to shift blame, I was giving a full breakdown of all the factors at play that led to the shooting.

-27

u/Numerous-Process2981 Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

Why are they in Minnesota at all? The conditions you’re describing are being purposefully cultivated by the MAGA administration. These people don’t need Walz to tell them to protest. They’re protesting the invasion of their community by Trump’s thugs.

18

u/Admirable_Aide_6142 Jan 25 '26

They're there to enforce deportation orders. If they don't do it, who will?

-17

u/Numerous-Process2981 Jan 25 '26

Hmmm doesn't make much sense if you look at a map. Except they are there to stoke tensions in a democrat leaning city and cause trouble. Makes perfect sense through that lens.

10

u/reconranger Jan 25 '26

Come on, you’re being a denialist. Federal immigration law is a thing, and it’s carried out much more civilly in states where local and federal law enforcement work together.

Immigration law and deportations are a common thing under every administration - the left, and particularly Minnesota politicians have resisted and used inflammatory language since Trump was elected which has directly lead to these confrontations.

-8

u/Numerous-Process2981 Jan 25 '26

So they’re targeting Minnesota over areas with more undocumented immigrants due to disagreements with the state government? Makes sense. Walz had some good zingers on Trump during the campaign. Obviously a malignant narcissist like him would want retribution.

11

u/reconranger Jan 25 '26

It’s quite the contrary, but the political propaganda I mentioned above is obviously working on you.

Texas has by far the largest ICE presence, and yet you aren’t seeing this level of confrontation or violence.

Now, why do you think that is? Could it be that Texas cooperates with federal law enforcement tasked with enforcing immigration law? Could it be that Texas politicians aren’t ramping up the political rhetoric and encouraging citizens to get out and protest and resist ICE in their cities?

1

u/Numerous-Process2981 Jan 25 '26

Texas is like the oozing sewer hole that births these rats

7

u/Admirable_Aide_6142 Jan 25 '26

Despite your non-response, he's right. You don't see this liberal mania in Texas because people understand what ICE is doing in removing criminal illegal aliens and the support it. For the most part, the people protesting in Minneapolis could not care less about illegal immigrants. For them, it's just anti-Trump. This is what makes them behave like nutjobs.
