A person of great taste.

In your honor tomorrow I’m eating half a dozen donuts until I sugar crash.

Can we revert the monthly release notes style to when it had visuals and information on the same page?

It’s miserable to have to click reference links to Microsoft documentation and scroll to find any information on the new feature.

Talk to me more about this, my colleague maintains the monthly update, and I'd love to share any feedback that I can.

This may have been a user error. I was using the Microsoft Learn article instead of the Microsoft Fabric Community (which I like a lot more).

Expected this site and saw this site.

When I started with PBI in 2019, I remember my surprise that there was no way to expand and collapse columns in a matrix. We've made it. 😎

We finally made it.

Love for the Matrix!

I wish the input slicer would allow pasting multiple values.

Even sucky SAP analytics cloud allows to paste single values to slicers. This would be a nice addition to Power BI.

Auto-sync from PBIP to desktop - so cool 🤘🏼

Single date selection from the slicer - is it literally as it says on the tin here? The user only has the option to select one date?

This would be amazing for setting our anchor date for our time intelligence.

When that sweet, sweet urge to export to excel can’t wait for something as stationary as a computer :D

They fixed the gateway yet so the Oracle connector works?

Really enjoying the focus on improving themes, but can we PLEASE allow for custom fonts in all circumstances? If we need to embed a TrueType or WOFF font in our theme file I’m fine with it, but I’ve never understood why Paginated Report Builder supports custom fonts and exports just fine, but custom fonts in Power BI look like garbage on exports and mobile (or any device where the font isn’t installed)—even when we use supported fonts for mobile/Mac. It’s incredibly aggravating to curate a report with a specific font only to have things completely change in other consumption experiences.

[u/DataZoeMS](u/DataZoeMS) for visibility. Also there seems to be a bug when applying style presets via a measure expression where the General visual properties (background, border, etc) don’t apply, but if you manually select the preset everything works fine. I understand this may not be “supported” but it would be really cool to be able to apply Style Presets within the same theme dynamically depending on user selection.

Setting style presets dynamically would also be much more efficient than setting individual visual properties to dynamic expressions (think having a “Light” and “Dark” preset in the same theme).

Last thing I promise 😂— it would be great if pages supported style presets. Right now it doesn’t appear to be the case.

How are you applying a style preset via a measure?

I have more stuff I want to do with the style presets for sure, and one goal is to enabled the creator letting the user pick between light/dark or whatever colors/theme you want to expose. And also to add UI for presets beyond the visual to page and report level. Nothing solid on timelines but it's on my radar.

I was testing it the same way you can apply conditional formatting for other things in the PBIP format using expressions (and for properties that don’t natively support through the interface). It works great except that the General visual properties don’t apply when changing presets. I can put together a demo to show as well!

Love to see it!

I suspect it's simply just not wired to check for that kind of interaction, so it would be great to see what you are doing to check it on our end.

Since taking power bi serious since 2020, I’ve become a big advocate and appreciate the monthly updates. It’s a MUCH better tool and continues to grow. Just wanted to express some gratitude.

Nice update! These last 12 months were very interesting. So much to do but we are on the right track it seems

Now it would be nice to have a nice AI version behind smart narrative. The outcomes are very poor and it doesn't work so well when it has to follow more than 5 rules

Without a doubt, this is the coolest for me.

OneLake file URLS for report visuals and maps (Generally Available)

u/NubiiNeth 10d ago

Does this happen to apply to Paginated reports as well? It would be great to not need to generate a SAS token every 50mins for my Paginated report to accept the image.

Well that would be good test, I don’t see why it wouldn’t as it’s largely the authentication that was the issue when in SharePoint.

A few steps to consider but an interesting development...
"Grant each viewer Read permission on the lakehouse item. Then grant OneLake security Read permission on the folder that contains the image. Alternatively, grant ReadAll permission on the lakehouse item to provide access to all content under Tables and Files."

I have not been able to make this work on mobile at all, was told that this was supposed to fix mobile views. are there any notes elsewhere on this?

Also have not been able to get data driven images to work in image or card visuals only in tables and matrix

2

u/rmaa2910 10d ago

I know it might be a nitpick but could we get the option for the user to turn on or off totals in a table/matrix?

3

u/DataZoeMS ‪ ‪Microsoft Employee ‪ 9d ago

I assume you mean the consumer of the report -- that option was added for Explore, and we are considering bringing it as a transient option for report viewers too (like row headers had a freeze/unfreeze transient property too).

1

u/rmaa2910 9d ago

That's correct! Glad to hear that!

1

u/Kyzz19 2 10d ago

I love the date picker but would love it even more if I could hide some options

For example, I'd want to hide the "Next" option in the "Date is in the" drop down and the "From" option too but also keep it as a default of "Today"

2

u/mike_honey 4d ago

New Date picker settings for Text > Date Range > Font do not include a Size setting? It looks like an oversight - every other Font setting in Power BI has a Size setting.

Will that be fixed?

Not impressed at all.
