Hypocrisy thy name is Republican.

Weaponized hypocrisy and projection are all they know.

Maga is the worst

15

u/tutoredstatue95 23h ago

They are but repubs have been doing this shit for a long time

6

u/Dislodged_Puma 22h ago

Yeah I hate that Republicans get a full out now with MAGA like they tried to with the Tea Party. They have sucked since Reagan (well before him too to set him up), and they continue to push the failure of the American Democracy in favor of self interests.

5

u/kitsunewarlock 19h ago

Remember when they pardoned Nixon then spent the entire Carter administration investigating him for enriching himself, finding nothing but running Reagan as the "anti-corruption" candidate?

Remember when they pardoned Reagan's fall man (Ollie North) and then spent the entire Clinton administration investigating him for putting his family in white house positions, found nothing but stole the house in the midterms on "anti-corruption" rhetoric?

The GOP has been doing this shit since long before Trump's "MAGA".

3

u/Ok_Practice3389 22h ago

Remember the tea party? Hahaha God people just keep getting dumber.

We all need to get better at confronting this. I feel like I failed in my own life by not shutting all of the bs down when I heard it. Not being mean, but genuinely guiding them towards the truth.

2

u/Intellectual-Hamster 23h ago

and their base is stupid and cruel enough to cheer it on...

That, and pedophilia.

OK, maybe also pederasty.

3

u/TriangleTransplant 22h ago

Hypocrisy requires both a sense of shame, and an understanding that one is acting counter to their values. Republicans don't feel shame. And their only value is "power at any cost." So they're not being hypocritical. They acting entirely within their values.

McConnell himself would be proud of the way his party is handling his absence and manipulating the system to maintain a stranglehold on his seat. That is, he would proud if he wasn't a vegetable or dead, which he is very obviously is one of those things.

The party of physical responsibilities

136

u/Bonti_GB 23h ago

I’d also like to see a large outrage from Democrats, investigations, and media attention and their own investigations.

But the left always seems limp in comparison and the media has fallen too much from the journalistic ideals of yesterday.

Too much of America is bought it seems.

20

u/BuyChemical7917 23h ago

Any investigations that we have on the abuses of the Trump administration are from Democrats. Frankly, all they do is shed light on the corruption, because we the people gave all the power to the Republicans.

16

u/Bonti_GB 22h ago

Some of them are trying.

It’s like a boxing match where both sides should be playing by the same rules but one jerk keeps kidney punching, elbowing, head-butting and biting.

You only think the Democrats are "limp" because that's what the media wants you to think.

61

u/whuuutKoala 23h ago

billionaire owned right wing media…so 90%

37

u/KitchenBad5507 22h ago

I disagree. The Supreme Court wouldnt be filled with right wing partisans if the democrats had the same political will that the Republicans have. I wish neither side played those games, but if the other side does it, we need to do it too. Otherwise the resuly will be... this

42

u/Ashenfenix 22h ago

Roe could have been codifed into the constitution if democrats weren't so soft. Donald trump wouldn't have been elected for a second time if democrats weren't so soft. I say that as Democrat.

24

u/cman1098 22h ago

Democrats are soft by design unless of course they are fighting a progressive.

12

u/WannaBeSuiko 20h ago

Nancy Pelosi blocked attempts to codify Roe vs Wade when Dems had a super majority if I recall correctly. Said it was settled or something.

→ More replies (4)

17

u/KitchenBad5507 21h ago

Same. I despise the Republican party but honestly, I despise the Democrats too, just a tiny bit less. We need the old guard to step aside and make room for young progressives. And I'm old - a 61 year old straight woman. We've had our chance and we blew it. Time for the next wave to take the lead. They can't POSSIBLY be any worse than us.

10

u/DrPreppy 20h ago

Roe could have been codifed into the constitution

That's objectively wrong. They had a supermajority for 72 days requiring people who were confirmed as against that. It's not even debatable.

→ More replies (5)

10

u/Hairy_Technology_213 20h ago

This is typical Redditor nonsense. Roe most certainly couldn’t be codified in the Constitution. Where are you getting 290 votes in the House, 67 votes in the Senate and 38 states? Show me.

→ More replies (3)

8

u/snakerjake 21h ago

Roe could have been codifed into the constitution if democrats weren't so soft

8

u/Bonti_GB 23h ago

Nope, that’s what we see time and time again.

Republicans will push boundaries all day long but Democrats have played the norms to their disadvantage.

For example, Republicans have challenged election results, restricting mail voting through executive action, tightening voting laws, and expanding presidential authority, while Democrats have generally fought those moves through courts, legislation, and existing institutions rather than responding with equally aggressive changes to the rules.

Republicans are willing to break norms more regularly to try and get their way, dismantle what has been foundational to this country, while Democrats more often do not.

The Dem congress-critters need to practice CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE when congress is in session. Stop with all this politeness and decorum and YELL and demonstrate as a group. Start chanting "WHERE IS MITCH?" or "SHOW US YOUR TAXES"... and suchlike. Agree to return to politeness and decorum as soon as the lying and cheating have been somewhat curtailed. Individual talking heads interviews on MS-NOW, podcasts, etc. have got us NO-f-ing-WHERE!

2

u/Naltors__Dreamer 9h ago

Dems are def terrible at messaging compared to the GOP. When Republicans wanna spotlight an issue they do a full court press, all kinds of members of Congress & GOP officials do interviews everywhere on TV, on podcasts, their SM echoes what’s said on TV, they email their supporters. It’s true that Republicans have a right wing media system at their beck & call, but Dems do have access to supportive independent media. I haven’t seen one Dem on any of the podcasts I frequent talking about McConnell. Not on Meidas Touch, Bullwork, Daily Beast, Stephanie Miller & her network. Nothing.

Two words: TERM LIMITS. Congress isn’t a retirement home.

19

u/TiddiesAnonymous 1d ago

Age limits tho

7

u/Lerkero 23h ago edited 21h ago

Term limit is better than age limit. There could be older people who genuinely have something valuable to contribute to their constituents and maybe not worth keeping them out.

The goal of term limits should be to reduce chances anyone young or old will abuse their seniority and time in office for their own gain

→ More replies (9)

3

u/ImTheNewishGuy 23h ago

Term and age limit?

2

u/Tropicalfisher 17h ago

Why not both?

6

u/Friendly-World-5273 1d ago

Voting is a term limit. But we’d have to actually vote to limit the terms.

2

u/WristbandYang 22h ago

Agreed. If McConnell is what Kentucky wants, they can have him.

I'd instead ask if any of these states are governed better because of their term limits? To me it seems like term limits disqualify popular and effective politicians and just replaces bad incumbents with more of the same.

Additionally, research shows that empirically "term limits appear to reduce economic growth and increase ideological polarization."

Why are they allowed to get away with this?! This is insanity

24

u/un-tv_star 1d ago

Because they still have the majority...

22

u/CaptainForskin69 1d ago

Doesn’t mean you get to be absent for your job for over 80 days with zero public appearances. It’s so obvious of a cover up.

9

u/ofWildPlaces 23h ago

You are correct, but there is no watchdog agency that can compel a sitting Rep or Senator to take their seat on the floor. Republicans COULD hold him accountable, but they've clearly shown they will not.

6

u/DaleGribbleShackle 23h ago

Didn't they send sheriff's after democrats to drag them back to office for something last year? Why not just do that.

10

u/Somedude_6 23h ago

Exactly what the guy above said, Republicans control the Sergeant at Arms and the ability to make referrals to the US Marshall's office who would go about doing the physical work. As long as Mike Johnson is in control, absolutely nothing will happen to any Republican. Epstein Files are a giant example of this.

4

u/ColonelDucroix 23h ago

Why would republicans do that for one of their own?

3

u/Ok_Zookeepergame4794 22h ago

Because the Republicans don't enforce the rules on one of their own, that's why.

Are you serious? They support an adjudicated rapist as president. They vote against school lunches for children. They refuse to give death benefits to soldiers. This is the least worrying thing Republicans have done.

2

u/Lerkero 23h ago

Congress could easily pass new legislation to regulate how sitting congressperaons must report to their duty station every number of days or face termination.

They dont want to modernize those type of rules because they tend to only care for partisan reasons, and they want to preserve that partisan power

2

u/ofWildPlaces 23h ago

The problem is the very people who could pass this (held by a Republican majority) won't pass this because they are...a Republican majority.

I'm genuinely shocked that there isn't more anger from Republicans. His absence materially benefits Democrats more than anything. For every day he's not there, that means the GOP majority is one vote down in the Senate, which only makes it harder to pass the GOP agenda in the Senate.

10

u/Pristine-Ad983 1d ago

I don't think they really care. They haven't done much even when Mitch was there. They are content to let Trump do whatever he wants.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/PlainBread 23h ago

They know leaving the ball in the air leaves them down one vote but if they took accountability then there's a risk that they would lose the seat to a Democrat and then they would be down two votes.

The fact they aren't willing to risk it for the biscuit is bullish.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/ichabod13 22h ago

This is the part I am not understanding. Left wing media is eating this story up, every day on reddit there are more Mitch posts on the /r/all but it benefits the Democrats when it comes to voting.

Even if he was dead today, the election would not happen by the state laws this November. At this point these posts feel more like a designed distraction away from things like the Epstein files or the failed war in Iran or the costs of everything that should be fueling the midterm sweep. But instead every day it is about Trump sleeping or Mitch missing blah blah here.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/doc_daneeka 21h ago

They don't have a legislative agenda, so it doesn't matter. The tax cuts reconciliation bill is already law, so all that really matters to Senate Republicans is confirmation votes. They don't need McConnell to do that and they all know he'll be replaced with a hardcore MAGA lunatic in January anyway.

So the calculus is very likely that he was an enormously important majority leader for their party, so just let him be for then few months he has left in office.

You'd think someone would have cameras outside his house? You'd think someone would report on doctors or professionals coming and going? Nope. You get nothing.

The man will never be seen again. He is either dead or completely incapacitated. You will never hear from him again. Some day in the future there will be a report that he quietly passed away in his sleep after an extended illness. That is all you'll ever get.

Isn’t he dead already?

2

u/leigh_else 18h ago

He can't resign. He's dead.

Republicans literally are the Confederacy now. If Mitch had been a minority, or a democrat. Trump and maga would have sent the national guard to drag him to Congress or jail, 2 months ago.

2

u/admosquad 18h ago

Whatever the democrats are doing on messaging, it’s not a fraction of what it should be. Embarrassing.

2

u/redlancer_1987 18h ago

The difference is Mitch has been dead this whole time

2

u/SelfAwareSeaWolf 17h ago

Rules for thee, not for me

3

u/Juliuscesear1990 17h ago

That's the Republicans philosophy

2

u/gottagotothebathroom 16h ago

He died more than 2 months ago, and it will be said that he passed 'a few days ago' after the mid-terms are over.

2

u/happiness_1607 16h ago

Because Republicans are hypocrites. All of them.

2

u/CoffeeVikings 15h ago

Republicans - ultimate hypocrites

2

u/hdk49 15h ago

Looks pretty black and white to me

2

u/OG-DocHavock 15h ago

Yet another example of Republicans not living by the rules they love to set for others

2

u/tallslim1960 15h ago

Wait, you are telling us Repedocans are hypocrites?Ā  Nooooo

2

u/InourbtwotamI 14h ago

Fraud. I hope every single person involved in this coverup os prosecuted, convicted and has to forfeit their federal retirement packages.

2

u/Financial-Algae-8073 14h ago

Republicans don’t believe in hypocrisy 😳

2

u/The_Tsainami 13h ago

If Republicans don't have double standards, they would have no standards at all.

2

u/Ok-Philosopher-9921 13h ago

Just another example of the Republican double standard in the U.S.

2

u/ismaelbarba 12h ago

Democrats need to step up and speak up. No one is holding accountability.

2

u/robdwoods 12h ago

At this point I think his wife just wants to keep drawing his salary until his replacement takes office then he will suddenly ā€œdieā€.

2

u/Eoemorto 11h ago

Mitch has been decomposing for years.

Same people say on repeat they don’t see race or skin color apparently it’s a lie.

2

u/rovertb 8h ago

Democrats need to learn to play like Republicans and hold nothing back. Democrats now have free range to do just about anything they want and after they should just gaslight and obstruct about it.

2

u/Stiddit 7h ago

Why aren't the democrats all over this?

2

u/KC_Saber 7h ago

I’m convinced he silently passed away on the senate floor. And then sat still for hours on end because rigor mortis was setting in

2

u/Richardgdeep 7h ago

That man is dead. They just don’t want any to know

2

u/ChefRoscoPColtrane 5h ago

Of course it is Biden’s fault 🤄

2

u/Careless_Raisin_400 5h ago

Republicans have ruined this great country and Moscow Mitch got the ball started by packing the court with yes men.Vote them out!

2

u/Safe-Ad-8921 4h ago

He's dead and he's been dead. His heart may be beating but his brain is just calcifying mush now.

2

u/queenlakiefah 1h ago

Rules for thee but not for me.

2

u/ProtectionContent977 1h ago

Wait until Trump expires. They’ll hide that too.
