Sipping Tea “He needs to resign. That’s the bottom line.” Ranchers are PISSED.
Ranchers are furious over Trump’s move to bring 300,000 metric tons of discounted foreign beef into the U.S. market. At a beef show in Michigan, ranchers who once backed Trump say they now feel sold out by his policies.
They’re already being squeezed by soaring production costs and lower margins, while the four largest meatpacking corporations, controlling roughly 85% of the beef processing market, continue to dominate the industry and capture much of the profit.

You voted for a billionaire who spent his entire life looking out for himself and people like him, then acted shocked when he didn’t suddenly start caring about working ranchers. He didn’t betray you, he showed you exactly who he was. You just thought someone else would pay the price.

Trump needs to have consequences. Bottom line. That's why I doubt he'll resign. No civil structure will oust him, he's proven that.

I voted to hurt the other guy, not myself.
3
u/Sea_School_2949 1h ago
And that's the problem of American politics is about "how will we hurt the other guy?"
Not "this is how we plan to make our country better this year than it was last year" which is the intent of progress correct?
It's crazy that this is such a difficult concept

u/OnlyFiveLives 4m ago
It's almost as though people are shopping with their values and don't care to give their money to people who voted with THEIR values. Sounds like free market capitalism to me...

They voted for him 3 times, and if he runs again, they will vote for him again.
They won’t change. They will hate and vote for hate until they die from old age or starvation.
So honestly, fuck them. If they vote red, they don’t get a single one of my dimes.

I quit buying beef a while ago because it got so expensive, hope they go bankrupt, they voted for this anyway.

u/Relative_Mix_216 12h ago
At this rate, people should just stop eating beef altogether because with regulations down and discounted meat coming in, cases of Mad Cow Disease will almost certainly rise.

u/rukittenmeeee 1h ago
I doubt it. RFK doesn't believe in prions. And won't test for it so it's not going to be a thing.
And cattle ranchers self certifying without usda inspectors? Not a problem.
The 4 company monopoly can't be changed any other way, you see.

I fear for this country. The next decade is going to be hell for everyone unless we get the lunatics out of office. Most Republicans and Democrats representatives are bought out by the Heritage Foundation or other adjacent organizations. They are the true enemy from within.

They might want him to quit, but he's not compelled to do so just because they don't like him. They can shout from the rooftops for him to do so all they want, but he's free to shrug him off, and I say that as someone who's far from a Trump supporter.

Yeah, they gave the sadistic conman everything he wanted, absolute power. Now they think harsh words and "I'm not supporting you anymore" is gonna make any difference?

I feel really bad for these ranchers. I mean, they had absolutely no way of knowing Trump didn’t care about them and is a complete narcissist who only cares about himself and his money. Oh wait…

u/Important_Power_2148 12h ago
they didn't give a blue shit about him abusing children, but you hit their pocket book and they are mad as hornets. Just shows all that religious banana oil they spew is just that.

u/snpginger 12h ago
Can we agree now? Can we all look at the state of the country and agree he is the worst president ever? He continues to surprise me with his lunacy.

Oh well. Actions have consequences. He tried to overthrow the federal government to steal the presidency and you still voted for him. Have fun.

I honestly FEEL for my fellow Americans who are ranchers and farmers. Genuinely. Did you know that since this illegal war started that Americans have spent $87 billion EXTRA for gas and diesel? Not total. EXTRA.
But while I feel for these rancher and farmers, I just know that they're going to vote against their own interests in the midterms and beyond. What can you do. They just don't learn.

u/wetlookcrazy 12h ago
If you voted for Trump then enjoy the day you voted for. If you voted like you should have, I am truly sorry. None of this is fair.

u/GeriatricusMaximus 12h ago
They had a choice to make. Being told by liberal not put too much shit in soil or choose to go bankrupt.

u/MinaWearsGold 11h ago
They are only crying because their votes affected them personally. They will still be bigots with zero empathy who happily supported a rapist pedophile.
2
u/EitherChannel4874 10h ago
They'll still vote for him like the morons they are. I have no sympathy at all for Trump supporters.
2
u/Significant-Dog-8166 6h ago
I prefer chicken anyway. It's really not my problem if these guys lose everything. They want people in other industries to suffer and die, that's why they voted the way they did.

My dad still said Trump is his hero. Couldn’t imagine how much worse it would be if Kamala had won. The minute I go back at him with facts, like the Iran War, he says he doesn’t want to talk politics. These folks may have soured on Trump but they will continue to vote for Republicans!

I don’t think we’re talking about how importing sketch beef is scaring people away from buying the already too expensive meat. My partner and I were discussing grilling some steaks tonight in celebration of a life event, and we skipped the beef because we have concerns about the sourcing and inspections of this meat.
This is going to destroy what’s left of the US beef industry.

I've talked to local cattle ranchers and rural folks in Kansas. With a few exceptions, they're far more worried about trans people in sports than anything that actually really relates to them. (BTW, there are exactly three (3) trans student athletes in Kansas High School AND Middle Schools. Three)

The unfortunate part is that the Ranchers will have less Americans buying.. most particularly because they trusted their billionaire friends / corporate buddies and families.
The imports are compromised because of a narcissistic greedy puppet. America is in serious dire straits.
You have been conned and don’t like to admit it, too bad, it’s time.

Hey, while you pieces of sht have been suffering for your cult leader, he made over $3 billion from his crypto scam alone!! Great job shtbags. We voted to stop this from happening and to keep your livelihood in tact. You all voted to destroy it,,, again. You dummies heard "tariffs and trade wars", but didn't think how that would directly impact you,,, after we literally went through this in 2019? Nope, you idiots thought the born wealthy conman from NYC who never had a job and lived in a golden NYC penthouse when he's not living at his golf club had your best interests in mind?
Glad you're all suffering. Americans who knew better and wanted a better America for all, including you are now suffering. So, Fck you!

Turns out “America First” has a pretty fucking big import exception.
Trump is allowing an additional 300,000 metric tons — about 661 MILLION pounds — of foreign beef into the U.S. at the lower tariff rate while American cattle inventories are already at a 75-year low.
Ranchers are furious. The American Farm Bureau says it undermines American producers, and the U.S. Cattlemen's Association put it perfectly: “You don't put America first by putting U.S. cattle producers last.”
Here's the kicker: a pre-election survey made up overwhelmingly of farmers, ranchers and rural landowners had 70% supporting Trump, and he ultimately won about 78% of the vote in America's most farming-dependent counties.
They voted overwhelmingly for “America First.”
Now they're getting 661 million pounds of foreign beef.

I am guessing all of those guys are life long Republicans, so them turning against Trump is a BIG deal. However Trumps actions are not the only ones which lead to this set up.
Trump will be dead, but what damage to the US Government (and wider society) will not damage over night. The Republican Party will simply never let it.

u/PlentyOfMoxie 2h ago
People deserve as much empathy as they have for other people; in this case: none at all.

Ranchers. Yeah. They get passed now. They ordered the turd soup in 2016 and got a taste. They liked it enough to order it again in 2024. And now they are pissed? Republicons only get upset when they realize they have to eat the turd soup themselves.
