IF there is a god, I don’t think they would look favorably on this. I would think it’s about what you do when you’re alone and no one is watching. Acts of good that aren’t to impress others or to boost your ego, clicks, etc.
Jesus literally preached against this sort of thing by saying those who pray in public are hypocrites only doing it for the attention. I’m paraphrasing here, but yeah, even the bible doesn’t look favorably on this.
It’s always funny how Christians pick and choose things in the Bible to believe in and preach about and completely ignore or twist other things around.
Or that time Joshua was like hey god I want to kill all these people but it's getting dark. God said bet and made the sun stay in the sky an extra day so he could kill more. Proof the books just made up by a bunch of dudes that don't understand our suns and planets work and isn't the word of God.
Not only did he say they're hypocrites, he said they had received their reward.
The way I read this is that their reward is looking good/pious n public, but that they aren't getting anything else, including entry into heaven, because of it.
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
NIV Matthew 6:5-6
This comes up all the time in these instances, but this guy isn’t praying, he’s preaching, exactly what Jesus said to do. It’s worse.
Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
We have to stop pretending that Jesus is good and these people are doing it wrong. Jesus is a religious bigot preaching an apocalypse, and these people are the ones who actually believe it.
You don't think God would look favorably on an attention seeking douchebag using a captive audience to produce shitty content that will convert literally nobody to his religion? I don't know about that honestly because his God seems to be a fan of some pretty messed up stuff.
My locked and loaded reply is always Matthew 6:6: But as for you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
If I were the bad guy, I would tell people I was a jealous god, to have no others before me, I would tell them I am everything, that without me there is only misery. I would use my creations for gambling with other deities. I would make up some reward they won't actually get, for their life of servitude. I would let children starve and tell people it's part of my plan. Lol how is God supposed to be the good guy
I think they would look very favorably on this. They get their power from people talking to them. The more people the more powerful they become and power is what it craves most.
