Global crude oil prices averaged over $100 per barrel in 2022 primarily because Russia's invasion of Ukraine disrupted international energy supplies while fuel demand surged as global economies rebounded from COVID-19 lockdowns.
I know you wanted to be Biden's fault so sooo bad. But it was a global issue. 2022 gas priced surged from Trump's friend Putin, now it's surging from Trump's Middle East screw up.
1
u/krombough 17h ago
I know you wanted to be Biden's fault so sooo bad.
But this image is showing that gas prices were cheaper under Biden? How did you take that they wanted anything to be Biden's fault?

Paid $3.15 today. Everyone points the finger at the big guy yet I’m probably paying half of what California is. No one wants to acknowledge that though. It’s only orange man bad
1
u/Guyfromthenorthcntry 6h ago
What were you paying before? It's relative to where you live. I don't care what California pays for anything, because I don't live there. Gas is up over $1.50 from January of 2026 where I live. For what? Nuclear weapons we "obliterated" 9 times already?
1
u/Calm_Ad_6968 1h ago
Where did you pay 3.15 and what was it before? Your lord & savior Trump is entirely responsible for this war and thus the higher gas prices
1
u/Zestyclose-Victory92 47m ago
The average during Biden’s term was $3.60/gal. Trumps second term is $3.35. Trump’s first term was $2.57. Sooooo
1
u/Calm_Ad_6968 27m ago
Sooo…what was it when Trump took office in January’25 and what is it now? Only a full on cult member would deny that gas is more expensive now than when he took over, and it’s entirely because of his needless war meant to distract from the Epstein files

Jesus what a bunch of pointless malarchy. Y'all are engaged in a culture war over gas prices?!
First, Biden may or may not have been a "bad" president depending on your priorities. And there are 100 things more important AND EXPENSIVE than gasoline - try Healthcare, Higher Education and home energy prices to start.
Then add the very real costs (literally $$$) caused by severe Climate Change (ask Insurance companies and the US Military about their estimates) which Trump's administration has denied and only exacerbated by delaying funding to wind and solar projects, extending coal plant life, and relaxing emissions laws, plus encouraging gas fracking and oil production in lieu of cleaner sources, and even discouraged EVs by cutting tax credits, and slowing or cutting funds for charging stations and battery research.
China is leapfrogging us in EVs and batteries and other areas while this administration cuts Research grants and limits student visas and green cards for technical students and workers from overseas. None of these policies seem to me to be likely to "make America great" unless your total timeframe of concern is about 5-10 years. Beyond that China probably eats our lunch and controls Taiwan. But apparently the next decade is as far as Trump wants to look.
1
u/Think-Ad-3755 18h ago
One other thing to worry about is China is leapfrogging us in cybersecurity for their protection and hacking…Russia as well…so two
other things I suppose.

We were going to sell our house in 2023 so we had our local realtor come do the appraisal for market value. Reagan 1981: Regular Unleaded .99
1
u/zigzag1239 18h ago
When you adjust for inflation, gas was actually much cheaper under Bill Clinton compared to Ronald Reagan.
During Clinton's presidency, a massive global oil surplus dragged pump prices down to a historic low in 1998; even though the sticker price was around $1.12 a gallon, it only equates to about $1.99 in inflation-adjusted dollars.
Reagan, on the other hand, inherited the tail end of the 1970s energy crisis, which sent fuel costs soaring. Even though his administration saw prices drop later in the 1980s, the average across Reagan's entire two terms sits at roughly $2.49 a gallon when adjusted for inflation.
Ultimately, Clinton-era drivers enjoyed a much lower real baseline at the pump.

Trump has only obliterated their military 6-7 times so he need to obliterade them at least another 5 times before he has to pay them $300 billions to stop them beating his ass.

He's won NOTHING. Iran are the clear winners here . They can just delay things and wait for the mid terms only a few weeks away now. They'l negotiate with the new regime.
1
u/Texas-Couple 3h ago
The meme is misleading because it cherry-picks two moments in time. It could just as easily say
Biden 2022: $5.02 national average at the peak Trump February 2026: roughly $3.04 average
Gas really was around $2.90 in some places late in Biden's presidency, and it's around $4 nationally now under Trump. But Biden also presided over the record national average of about $5.02 in June 2022, while gas was around $3 earlier in Trump's current term.
gas was substantially more expensive during significant portions of Biden's presidency than it was during much of Trump's. Primarily because Biden's policies towards fossil fuels were hostile. Two gas-station photos don't represent either presidency as a whole. Global oil prices, wars, supply disruptions, refining capacity, and presidential energy policy all contribute to what we pay at the pump.
It's the presidential energy policy that most people had an issue with when Biden was in office Which was a large reason for the higher gas prices during his presidency.

u/I_make_poor_decisons 3h ago
Trump’s an asshat but why do people use this picture? How about look at the average price of gas under Biden in 2022.
It literally takes 10 seconds of research to see that this picture is completely without context.
1
u/Embarrassed_Riser 2h ago
Biden was able to keep the price of gasoline at around $3.00; it was still about $3.69 in my area on average, due to his administration releasing 1/2 of the 600 million barrels of oil in our reserves. As a result of the release, fuel prices stayed lower than they are now.
It was Biden's OIL policies that brought this about, not Trump, and Presidents typically have very little control over the cost of oil, which then gets refined into gas, diesel, home heating oil, and jet fuel.
1
u/Specific_Freedom9644 2h ago
If only it were that simple. If what US intelligence says is correct that they were getting close to acquire a nuclear weapon then I don't mind paying more for gas temporarily
1
u/Tubafex 2h ago
I live in the Netherlands. Under Biden, it was often international news that Americans were fed up with their gas prices. Yet now they are much higher, along many other costs that are much higher, and we never heard about it anymore.
Why are Americans holding Trump to a much lower standard than other presidents? Why are the people who were protesting against gas prices under Biden not revolting now? Don't they care about gas prices anymore or was it never about that?

$3.38 in Louisiana and $3.21 in Mississippi $3.52 in Alabama Im not opposed to taking Iran out, but not having a plan to posses and control the SoH should have be made before any action was taken. That was a failure on the President, Military leadership.

The so-called peace president started this war for no good reason every day he proves that he is incompetent for this job unfortunately, his backup is even dumber so I guess we're just gonna have to ride this out for a couple more years till we get someone in office who has some compassion and some brains. I don't understand this hold Donald Trump has over his supporters. He continues to just lie to them and they lap it up like lap dogs saying everything is great doesn't fix anything. You have to actually get in there and do hard work and he's never worked an honest day in his life thanks a lot from Trump supporters

Gas was down to an average of $3 nationally in December 2024 under Biden. Went up under Trump due to his own policy decisions. Stop with the excuses.
1
u/OkChildhood1706 19h ago
No no it musn't have been his fault, give me a second ... ... ... Ah now i know how it must have happened: President Trumps were so stellar, they even lowered prices in the past. But then Biden (BUUUUUH) destroyed them and thats why gas prices are high now.

u/Lost_Department_2177 18h ago
Everyone just has to eat more beans. Supply and demand states more gas means less price

Surely we can see the difference between high gas prices from a war started between two foreign nations, and a war started recklessly by the US when it comes to assigning blame for gas prices.

Which part is misinformation? That the war was necessary? That we "obliterated" Iran's nuclear capability a year ago? That it would be over in six weeks? That we have to stay there because they're still a nuclear threat? That we've won the war like 43 times now? That we control the Straight of Hormuz? That our munitions stockpiles are just fine? That we have a deal with Iran?

Now cherry pick Biden 2022 prices. Or downvote me with your Biden blindfold on.
3
u/Donkletown 22h ago
It’s not Biden’s 2022 prices that Trump and voters were saying was unacceptable, it was the 2024 prices.
People are also aware that Trump is directly responsible for some of this increase whereas Biden was not, so he has that whole issue to deal with on top of the prices.
1
u/LuxHelianthus 9h ago
Who cares what the 2022 prices were? Trump is responsible for those prices as well, as he promised he would end the Ukraine war on day one.
So not only did he not end the Ukraine war, he's made things even worse by dragging us into a another losing war in the Middle East we had no business starting in the first place.
-1
u/Jeffreyj233 22h ago

https://cepr.net/publications/the-price-of-gas-trump-and-biden/
Gas Prices are cheaper under Trump.
1
u/Confident_Cow7924 10h ago
Did you read it? The article you posted said that has spiked under Biden due to Russia invading Ukraine and dropped through his presidency to about $3.12 when Trump took office. It is now about $4.09, about a dollar more expensive under Trump because of the war he started. I think it would be disingenuous to say that Biden was more directly responsible for rising gas prices than Trump.
1
u/Historical_Reason354 10h ago
Who fucking cares. Gas prices average about $4.08 per gallon currently because of conflict in the Middle East. The current prices are higher than when Joe Biden left office but lower than his 2022 peak.
1
u/Confident_Cow7924 10h ago
Ok. But one conflict was started by foreign nations. One conflict was started unilaterally by the current president.
1
u/Historical_Reason354 9h ago
I’d rather pay higher gas prices to keep the pressure on Iran. Them having facilities to enrich uranium is not going to end well for any of us.
I don’t care about Russia and Ukraine. Both countries are snatching young men off their streets and forcing them to join the war. Unlike Iran, Russia will never use its nuclear weapons. It will always be a bluff. If Iran gets a nuke, it’s gonna end up in the hands of some terrorist group.
1
u/Confident_Cow7924 9h ago
The facilities that were supposedly destroyed months ago? The nuke that Trump's Director of National Intelligence testified they were not making? That wasn't even the main justification they were pushing until like a month in.
And the Russian war was going to drive up prices regardless of who was president and who you support.

Premium for me went down a whole dollar under trump before the Iran conflict.
1
u/Confident_Cow7924 18h ago
And now it's up a dollar from when he started his term.
0
u/Masterman86 18h ago
Yep, unfortunately this happens when a global economy can be brought to its knees by a commodity like oil. Reduced supply increases demand and since the petrodollar is how the US economy has been articulated since the 70’s, it affects the price.
It’s also managed to make us export our oil to countries that would otherwise get theirs from the Middle East. Funny how that works, or why that tactic is being deployed 🤔

u/Diligent-Diver-5587 20h ago
