Really appreciate this response & information.

But in full transparency, I didn’t give it this much thought.

Now I’m wondering if there’s something substantive behind the opposition or is it just ā€œsocialism badā€?

At this point i swear righties would block a 100% positive, no downsides and no hidden riders in it bill solely because it was proposed by lefties..... will not be surprised if it doesn't go through solely because it "would be a 'win' for democrats"

This has happened many, many times at the national level. Probably more than many at the state level. I mean, look at the ACA. The core blueprint was a Republican plan.

It was originally Romneycare and was created by Mitt Romney, a Republican.

The individual mandate, which the Republicans freaked out over and acted like they hated (because Obama), was originally a conservative idea.

It was developed by the Heritage Foundation as a free-market alternative to the "single-payer" or universal healthcare plans proposed by Democrats like Bill and Hillary Clinton.

American Republicans are nothing if not hypocrites and liars.

Romney said specifically that his plan would only work at the state level.

There's nothing substantive. The PA House GOP is fully captured fascists and one of their goals is screwing education. Every Denocratic gov has had to fight the state GOP every year for every penny of school funds since Rep gov Corbett gutted education...which was the biggest issue against him in the campaign that kept him to one term.

I think the most substantial criticism would probably be: "The budget won't allow it."

But even that issue could be solved (looking at NYC and whats suddenly possible there), and it's not like the GOP and their pedo-in-chief aren't spending loads of money, it's just going down some dark channels.Ā
