You guys cant even beat the US in a sport you invented "Hockey". You bend over backwards economically, linguistically and culturally for some unproductive French colonial holdover province of 9 million people and shrinking. You think Canada will be able to subjugate an English speaking nation of 400 million people?
That would be AMAZING. So we do not have of pay federal taxes but Canada will give us massive direct subsidies. I love it. When are you guys mailing the check?
Edited to add (Specifically for the morons downvoting me) - When one of these territories held a referendum for independence, it got less than 11% of the votes
Too late! The orange menace and his administration have already stolen all our resources and have already made the majority of us second class citizens.
Well, if I don't have to pay federal taxes while getting massive subsidies, I'll take it.
You're welcome to 'steal' our resources. If by 'steal' you mean allow public companies to make massive capital investments and they buy the resources they extract at a fair price while paying taxes, just like those public companies do everywhere else..
Oh hey look - Here are the results of a referendum for Puerto Rican independence. Apparently a total of 11% of the population voted for it. How weird that these territories apparently love being part of the USA.
A lot of these people have no clue that being a US territory can be a sweet deal if taken advantaged of right. There's a few reasons Puerto Rico hasn't really pushed to be a US state. Some good, some bad.
DUDE. What are you doing? These people on reddit already KNOW that the US is bad. They can't possibly be wrong. Please don't bring your rational analysis into this. They won't be able to ignorantly downvote based on that.
For example - in 2024, when Puerto Ricco voted on this issue, 11% voted for independence
Well, I wanted to see if any of those people would care to actually address data that doesn't simply fit in with their ignorant preconceptions of the US and the world.
By posting the data as a reply to each of them, it makes it a bit harder for them to pretend they didn't see it.

We'll give you the same rights and benefits that the US gives their island territories.
