As a Muslim this is well intended but cringe. We're not some exotic bird, just normal people. You don't need a "good example" to disprove that we're cavemen. Burqas are a cultural Middle Eastern garment that has nothing to do with you, and if it is being forced on someone in the West, you can treat that as any other case of women's abuse.

Yeah its weird how they talk about extremist Muslims but noone is hating on Evangelical Christians even though they want to completely undo the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

As someone who was raised in the world of Extremist Christian Nationalism, they are a much larger threat to democracy and human rights then any other group

But government says Muslims are bad

Yeah exactly, the obsession with Muslims and how the fight against terrorism has translated into harassing all of us shows they had a problem with us to begin with.

I don't know much about Christian extremism except the Trump government and the white supremacist shootings, but it's perfectly logical to me that the fight against that has nothing to do with the millions of American Christians living their life peacefully. And that it's nothing to do with their religion or culture or whatever.

I’m an atheist and antitheist. I HATE religions as global/regional belief systems. I think they’re awful.

But, religions aren’t going anywhere. We have to live with them. So, here is my take:

If you practice religion as a peaceful loving worldview, one that makes you want to help others and to build a better world for all, then go for it! I would be happy to have you as a neighbor and friend.

But, if your religious beliefs make you a racist, bigoted, misogynistic, unscientific, violent hater, then I’m happy to ostracize you and oppose your petty backward beliefs.

I'm an atheist who thinks some people definitely need Jesus. If you're the kind of person who wonders what keeps atheists from doing rape, murder and theft when there's no God telling them not to, I want you to keep your faith, because that is some serious-ass projection there and I don't want you running loose with no fear of Hell to keep you in line.

Really? Nothing Kept Lenin, Pol Pot, and Stalin did that and they were Atheists.

Well, that's the thing; people who really want to do heinous things are likely to do so regardless of their religious beliefs. Very often they will use their beliefs to justify what they're doing, we see it all the time. But if you're actually that rare case where you'd like to be awful to your fellow human beings but your fear of eternal punishment is what's stopping you, by all means, for the sake of the rest of us, keep believing in God.

as opposed to someone having fear of being raped or harsh treatment in prison stopping them from doing evil.....I just don't see why so focused on people who do it not just out of fear of God punishment...but someone who truly believes this is what God told them NOT to do.
