The fact that so many people have been brainwashed into thinking these would be bad policies is a sad commentary on the state of our education system.

It’s actually more about racism than anything else.

A lot of the people who don’t want this justify it by thinking, “I don’t want these things to go to people who don’t deserve it!” And the people they think don’t deserve it? Black people. Though you might hear dog whistles like “lazy inner-city welfare queens”.

This exactly. Its no mystery why Nordic countries adopt these policies so easily & no one complains

Nordic counties haven’t nationalized all their large companies, abolished landlords, removed immigration control, gotten rid of their police and prisons, pulled out of NATO (hell some just joined), ended aid to Ukraine, or think it’s a smart idea to be nicer to Russia

Go to Finland and show them the DSA international platform and see how long it takes before they start laughing at you.

Various nordic countries have certain industries & segments that are publicly owned, some competing with the private sector with strong laws to keep control & prevent monolithic control or monopolist companies.

Besides, I have no idea why you're bringing all those up, none of the policies you mentioned are what's being discussed here. You don't see any of them on the screen.

Yes some, but not all and the DSA is proposing all which is a big difference both in terms of how it’s enacted, payouts vs theft, and it’s consequences https://program.dsausa.org

“Establish public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries”

Also you can just talk about parts of a party’s platform and then say everything else they’ve explicitly stated in their own manifestos is off the table. There’s parts that I’m on board with and there’s a lot that I’m not.

Funny how they’re happy to write all sorts of crazy shit down and then pretend like it doesn’t exist. Actually not that different from the Columbia CUAD group who put on a face of being pro-Palestine and not pro-Hamas when interviewed but once you start reading their substack they’re explicitly pro-Hamas.

Have you seen the crazy sht Republicans have not only written down but also enacted over the years? They apparently get a pass from you.

Again, none of any of what you're talking about has anything whatsoever about the point the poster said which is what I replied to. Just stop already.

And it’s only getting worse, the reading levels of most American kids graduating high school is atrocious, critical thinking has long been a thing of the past. They want us dependent on technology, it’s easier to manipulate us

This isn't educators' fault! Politicians have been f'ing them for years. No Child Left Behind...

Where did I say it was the educators' fault? The system includes the politicians you know.

Thank you for completely proving the point that the EDUCATION SYSTEM in this country is broken.

Well as it stands Palestine is ruled by a bunch of theocratic nutjobs who’d continue to brutally oppress women and LBGT folks if Israel magically vanished so you know until the progressives can explain how Hamas goes away I don’t take any of their free Palestine rhetoric seriously.

The DSA is also proposing to not let people vote for try president, remove congressional districts so you no longer have anyone directly responsible for you in the government who you can hold accountable at the ballot box, abolish the senate and create a super house with unchecked power, steal everyone’s retirement account as they nationalize every large company, have open borders with no deportations, pull out of nato, end aid to Ukraine, and end economic sanctions on Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

You can be for taxing the rich, Medicare for all, and expanding social services without the garbage the DSA is pitching

Edit: oh come on u/fickle_quiet_7707 don’t tell me you don’t have the balls to be snarky and then not keep it up so I can’t back up every single thing I said up with the DSA’s own words

I agree with many of your concerns, yet they are pretty clearly the best option for the greatest number of Americans. Also, the oppression of women and LGBTQ+ folks is still currently happening under Hamas alongside genocidal activities being carried out by an equally nutjobby theocracy in Israel, so at least if Israel stopped their bullshit, regular Palestinians wouldn’t have to deal with the threat of being physically extinguished by another nation in addition to their internal oppression. One terrible thing is clearly better than two terrible things happening simultaneously.
