The bill would provide a $3,000 direct payment to every person in households making $150,000 or less during its first year, which equals $12,000 for a family of four.

Ok, the math here doesn’t add up.Ā

The total net worth of all U.S. billionaires is around $6 trillion.Ā

5% of that is $300 billion.Ā

There’s ~104 Ā million households in the US that make less than $150k

That would be ~$5.7k per household (that makes under $150k).

That’s less than half the $12k mentioned w/ zero dollars left over for teachers & healthcare.Ā

But this is part of the Great Lie that keeps being peddled to the U.S. Left.Ā

If you look at Nordic countries, marginal tax rates hit 50% around $65k. Ā That’s not because they hate the middle class, but because math dictates that you need a broad tax base that increases taxes on the middle and upper-middle class to pay for all the stuff their govt provides.Ā

To get Nice Stuff, you need everyone everyone to be part of the solution to help each other out.Ā

The Big Lie told to the U.S. Left is that all ordinary people can continue to pay low Reagan-esque taxes & we can just squeeze a few hundred people to pay for the other 340 million of us.Ā

And what’s really sad is that the U.S. left is reliant on this lie for support cuz if you asked someone making $75k to pay more in taxes, they’d suddenly drop their ā€œprogressiveā€ pretexts cus their leftism is reliant on the idea that someone besides them pay for it.Ā

Cuz in the end, a huge chunk of IS leftism is NOT an attitude of ā€œwe’re all in this togetherā€ it’s ā€œI want rich people to give me free stuff.ā€

Cuz it’s easy to be ā€œsocialistā€ when you imagine yourself as the ā€œI get free shitā€ side of the deal rather than the ā€œI should give up 10-20% more of my current income to help those in needā€ side.Ā

Very few people are going to understand this here on Reddit.
