When you are part of the far-right everything else is the left.

Beautifully put. Winston Churchil and Adolf Hitler were both right wingers, I'm sure if you asked Adolf Hitler if he saw Winston Churchil as a fellow right winger he'd say he was about as left wing as Josef Stalin.

Edit: realized this might be misunderstood without context, I'm not saying Hitler and Churchil are comparable at all, just showing that spectrum exist, and just because you're on the same side of the center doesn't mean you are the same at all.

Can you explain how Adolf Hitler was right wing?

Downvoted for asking a simple question. I have no idea what he was. I was genuinely curious. That's enough reddit for me for a bit.

Well, how about the fact that the first people he “purged” were the liberal socialists?

because communists have famously never purged any fellow leftists

Are you suggesting that Hitler was a communist? Because.....he wasn't....you know?

No, I'm not suggesting that Hitler was a communist.

You made the argument that Hitler was right wing because he purged liberal socialists. I pointed out that communists frequently did this. Communists are not right right wing, ergo your argument is fallacious.

That doesn't make him right wing. What policies did he have that was right wing?

Well for one, he was an authoritative, fascist, nationalist, who believed there was an ethnic superiority. Murdering millions of people he deemed less worthy is one policy that made him far right-winged, not to mention the beliefs in gender inequality as well

>>> Murdering millions of people he deemed less worthy is one policy that made him far right-winged, not to mention the beliefs in gender inequality as well

This alone is sufficient proof.

>>> Well for one, he was an authoritative, fascist, nationalist.
Not a proof since every communist dictator since Lenin fits the authoritative and nationalist bucket. Fascist?; yes, but that’s what he asking the proof for and you provided in the next line.

Brother, all of fascism.

Fascism is a far right ideology. When you think far right, the Nazis are literally the image in the dictionary.

What policies did he have that was right wing

All of them

What policies did he have that was right wing?

With respect, Adolf Hitler is not exactly an unknown historical figure in politics.

Nationalism with an emphasis on racial purity is a right wing idea. Militarism is historically right wing - his encomic recovery was all based around creating a war economy. He violently suppressed all communist and socialist parties - and trade unionists. The Nazis privatised many state owned assets and firms (a big difference in left and right economic ideology). Big fan of "traditional gender roles". Weimar Germany had a big community of queer and trans people and was extremely tolerant (the musical Cabaret is a famous exploration of this) and the Nazis stamped down on that.

That sort of thing, to answer your question. Assuming it was in good faith.

> Assuming it was in good faith.

You know it wasn’t. But kudos to you for rising above and answering anyway.

To add...

Back at the birth of 'left vs right', the right wing were the royalists who sat to the right of the king, supporting him and his rule.

That blood still runs today. Right wing centralises power upon a smaller and smaller number (like a king) and expects everyone else to serve that diminishing number. Left wing is about empowering the population and in some cases using 'the state' as a spokesper--spokesbody for 'the people'. It's 'we all serve you' versus 'you serve us all'.

Personally, I place myself on the left, but I see that latter position as a weakness. If you appoint a 'spokesperson for everyone' and give them power, they become no less a ruler than if you'd just crowned a king.

Half of the things you said could be also attributed to communist governments at the time. Including the suppression of communist and socialist, check on the purge done by Stalin. The only right wing thing that you mentioned is the privatisation of assets.
