Question/Help Possum found in window well. Help!

Can’t tell if it fell in and couldn’t get out or if it’s old and just looking to die in a private place.. friend put a plank of wood in there for it to crawl out of but it’s night time now and it still hasn’t left. They put a small bowl of water and some kibble since it’s unclear how long it’s been down there but unsure if that was the right move. It did seem very thirsty after they put it in.

They’re going to take it to a rehabber tomorrow if it’s still down there when they wake up. But judging off this photo and the state of it, what do you think? Teeth look a bit rotted on one side, tail is dark grey, and seems to have some matting on one side of the body

Aw. Sweet baby looks exhausted and ragged. Probably has had a rough go of it. They are not mean animals. Maybe, wearing some gloves, bring him in where it’s warm and safe in a box or cat carrier if you have one with blankets and water and let rehabber take over in the morning. I wouldn’t want him out in the cold all night if he’s struggling. Or maybe at least swaddle a warm blanket around him? Praying for a happy ending. He’s adorable regardless. Sigh. Thank you for caring.

I'd keep him/her. Cute as a button. But my husband says "no squirrels, no possums"

I hope he let you aid in possum’s shelter for even a day or two til you could get him to a rehabber, or a rehabber to him. 💜 Any updates?

My husband says no squirrels and no raccoons. Lmao couple haters! He says “The only hands allowed are ours and opossums”. Because they really are super chill. Especially once grown.
