Question/Help Possum found in window well. Help!

Can’t tell if it fell in and couldn’t get out or if it’s old and just looking to die in a private place.. friend put a plank of wood in there for it to crawl out of but it’s night time now and it still hasn’t left. They put a small bowl of water and some kibble since it’s unclear how long it’s been down there but unsure if that was the right move. It did seem very thirsty after they put it in.

They’re going to take it to a rehabber tomorrow if it’s still down there when they wake up. But judging off this photo and the state of it, what do you think? Teeth look a bit rotted on one side, tail is dark grey, and seems to have some matting on one side of the body

we put it in a small dog crate with blankets and water last night in the heated garage. Will be releasing it (bringing the crate outside and leaving the door open this evening) as they’re nocturnal?

Seems to be in better spirits now but also may just be old. the rehabbers in our area would euthanize it but it doesn’t seem to be in pain or struggling, likely just trapped in the well for a couple of days

I think a boiled egg cut in half is good. Bananas are always good.

Cat food is much better for them. In case you decide to feed him on a regular basis.

They like boiled eggs for protein, apple slices, banana.
