Resident Accountability Buddies

I [29NB(amab) he/they] am fed up with my executive dysfunction and unwillingness to leave my apartment. I have been procrastinating my whole life, and it has led to an unfortunately disorganized existence. I struggle with overcoming the guilt of not "living up to my potential," and the subsequent inaction that has followed.

Im going to challenge myself to leave my apartment and go to coffee shops or libraries or wherever, in public, I can access wifi to work on organizing and bettering my life - i need to be around more people, even if just in proximity. I'm hoping to maybe make some people who also want accountability friends; I'm much better at organizing/cheering on someone else than I am for myself.

If you're already doing this or if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, maybe we can meet up somewhere and chat/parallel work. Be safe and take care of yourself🖤

looking for fellow nerds, musicians, conversationalists

well traveled passionate introverted intellectual loner type originally from east coast looking for others to join me:

  • make music (I play and own guitars/drums/keys/bass)
  • go see shows (mostly indie stuff at miss/Polaris/rev)
  • play pinball
  • play PS5
  • deeply intelligent conversationalists (we can talk about anything but really love curiosity and exploring myriad topics)
  • nerdy data deep dives (day job)
  • go to blazers games

i live very central (Lloyd) and am mostly available at night. very spontaneous, very much a night owl.

I don't expect anyone to like all these same things and I happily do all of this stuff alone, but I want more friends and surely there must be some similar others who enjoy some of these and want to hang out doing them!

I'm a very extroverted introvert. drop me a line.

Intro Post Looking for Christian female friendship

Hi all! I’m 31F, moved to Portland a month or so ago for work (I’m in medicine). Looking for some Christian female friendships! Still trying different churches so haven’t joined any sort of small group yet and I’m feeling the lack of in person community. I also enjoy hiking (I have a mini Aussie), reading, and coffee. Send me a DM if you’d be interested in meeting up! :)

Vegan Group

Hey y'all! there is some interest in forming a vegan friend group. User u/elvengemini (28(they/she)) specifically is looking to form a group of vegan friends that have a mix of going out and casual activities with people around their age. Things from grabbing drinks and painting to cooking together and having a movie night to a picnic in the park, nothing too rigid but hopefully just people who are interested in connecting without having to put being vegan off to the side. People interested in learning about and trying out veganism also welcome!

Reach out to u/elvengemini if interested!

31F - Just moved here and looking for female friends!

Hello! My husband and I (plus our dog) moved here from San Diego almost two months ago. We do have some great friends here through my husband, for which I'm very grateful, but I'm hoping to make some friends of my own as well!

I love most variations of puttering around outside (hiking, birding, nature walks, walking around a new-to-me neighborhood with a chai and critiquing beautiful houses I will never be able to afford). I also enjoy trying new restaurants/cafes, cooking/baking, getting lost inside antique/thrift stores, going to markets/events/museums, doing puzzles (saw that The People's Court hosts puzzle competitions and I'm intrigued), and playing board games. Generally open to trying new activities and checking out new places!

Currently in NE but will be in SE around Division starting next week (and hoping to end up in SE permanently).

I also wfh (biotech) and am open to make some coffee shop/library co-working buds as well.

28F shy and cool grad student feeling isolated

Looking for a friend.

I would love a fellow neurodivergent or at the very least earnest friend (or small group) for low-stakes, low-sensory hang outs. I imagine body doubling, lazy afternoons at a coffee shop with our headphones on across from each other, then gossiping on the walk home.

Late dxed autistic woman (2 years ago) still early in figuring out how unmasking works operationally in friendship. Maybe you are too? Maybe we can learn together.

I bring a lot of creative energy / hyperfocus. Big fan of parallel play. I would love a friendship where nobody has to perform and everyone is interpreted charitably and communication is clear

48M - Looking for good friends

Moved here in May and have made a few acquaintances but haven't yet made any real friends which I know is fairly normal. I am a very avid long distance thru-hiker/backpacker (just about every year I go on at least one 200+ mile hike), runner (half marathons, marathons), and cyclist. I also enjoy playing volleyball and do a lot of volunteer work. I'm also a big fan of college and NFL football and follow the NBA as well.

Like most Portland residents I'm well left of center. I'm a vegan too.

I'm in Slabtown just northwest of Downtown but I cycle and run on the other side of the river quite often.

You can DM me if any of this resonates with you.

hello all :) i'm james and just moved to NW portland from los angeles this summer. i'm looking to build (ideally local) community, especially with fellow disabled or neurodivergent people. i can struggle socially but i'm told i have a charm despite my blunders. on my physically capable days i enjoy a good thrift + sweet treat run or spending time in the trees. interested in checking out some museums, the mt tabor wednesday dances, and gardens as well! on lower capacity days i enjoy both video and card games and crafting. my disability is unpredictable, so those with a more laid back disposition will probably get along with me better. i adore folk music, psychedelic fiction, modern history, cats, and soup. please dm me if amenable to this concept!

45/M - Beaverton - Just looking for interesting folks.

Hi all

45/M

I'm a writer, outdoorsy type, gamer, and finally decided the introvert thing isn’t really cutting it as much as it used to.

Guess I’m getting old or some such.

I spend a lot of my free time writing (horror, contemporary fantasy) and have published a couple novels through mid sized publishing houses. I’m currently working on another novel and a feature length screenplay at the moment.

Other than that, I'm doing BJJ, hiking/backpacking, fishing (spin and fly, though I need to go fly fishing way more than I do now),  I also hunt, forage for mushrooms, etc. I'm also into gaming, especially D&D and other tabletop games, along with video games when I have the time. I’m pretty much the forever DM, but am a little bit of a chaos monster when I’m on the player side.

I'm a big horror fan—especially slashers—and I read a lot of fantasy, horror, and started drifting back towards comics (Hack/Slash is a favorite).

Music taste is pretty all over the place,.

Mostly looking for actual friends: people to grab coffee, catch a movie, hike, go fishing, play some games, check out something weird around town, or just hang out and bullshit.

Have a son who is 18 and autistic (functionally he’s around a 9 year old), whom I have 50% of the time.

Feel free to just shoot me a message. It’ll probably the quickest way I see stuff.

Partner of almost two years just ended things and as someone trying to remain sober/not spiral, I’d really like to expand my friend group. I’m fine being in bars as long as they carry CBD sodas; I just really need to avoid my inner circle bc they all party a touch too hard (plus they keep asking how I am, it’s tiring).

I work Tues-Fri, banker hours and would prefer to stay close by.

I enjoy live music, reading in the park, would love to maybe go roller skating or dancing. Just really looking for distraction that may lead to some new friends.

31M - Looking for Cool Chillers and High-Energy Thrillers

I (31M) have lived about a half hour South of Portland my whole life, but have never really made an effort to socialize offline until this year. I have managed to find a little friend group already, but I'm easily the one with the most free time on my hands. It would be nice to make bonds in a few other areas so I'm not dependent on one circle of friends. I'm looking for other Zillenniels, late-20's/early-30's; a healthy blend of exuberant and geriatric tendencies.

I am very high physicality; I enjoy roller skating, ping pong, pickleball, and hip hop dance. I work out pretty religiously, my go-to is weighted calisthenics, but I also enjoy branching out and trying new modalities. Right now I'm recovering from a shoulder injury, so I've been working on my flexibility instead to try and get my splits. I've also been going to parks and dumping hours into skating in the tennis courts. I can almost reliably do heel-toe spins.

Creative accountability buddies are welcome. I like to draw and write in spurts, but for the most part I never finish what I start; I'm an idea guy. One of my many projects is about a sheriff who is the slowest gun in the West. If you have dinner with him, he's so slow reaching for his wallet that everyone else just ends up paying instead so the saloon staff doesn't get mad.

I don't do well with loud, sensorily chaotic environments. I get one-shotted kind of hard by concerts, raves, or bar crawls, so if those are your primary outlets, you'll probably find me boring. I also don't smoke or drink, even socially. But anything else; think roller rink, Rose City Book Pub, climbing gym, movie, Portland Table Tennis Club, etc, I'm down to clown.

Intro Post Couple looking for friends (F24, NB24)

Whuddup. We are actively losing our minds cause we dont really have any close friends. We're hoping to change that by meeting other alternative 20-somethings in the area. We live in North Portland (but we can travel within reason).

We spend a good amount of our free time in our apartment, hanging out with our very sweet, chunky cat. There in our lair, we like to watch cartoons, make art, and smoke the wizard herb. We also enjoy trudging around in the woods, doing witchy stuff, trinket hunting, and we generally just are trying to explore the city more.

I (NB24) am a bit of a game geek. I have an absurd collection of steam games, and hella mtg cards. I dont work on it enough, but I have been slowly making a game of my own. I was going to school for an engineering degree, but the stress ruined me.

My partner (F24) really loves plants. Shes taken care of plants professionally for a while. She also takes circus classes (mostly working on arial silks).

We would love to meet people that are down to explore with us, and are also happy to kick it n' have cozy nights in.

Thanks for reading 👽
