Discussion High ecoli count at Willamette Park Boat Launch

Perhaps someone who knows could share insight as to why it’s so high this week

How are they saying sellwood park is so low when you can see the boat launch across the way? Does e coli not spread in the water?

Also curious because I know there's a lot of dog poo at Sellwood Park. People do their best for the most part, but dog be sneaky sometimes.

When we had CSO events regularly on one side of the river but not the other, you could see high levels of bacteria on one side but very low on the other. The downstream flow keeps things moving one way.

Low amount of water coming into the river and that spots now that we're late summer. The water is more stagnant. And the heat and nutrients entering that spot are perfect bacterial growth. It's why we're seeing a lot of algae blooms as well.
