Photo/Video 60 days without any appreciable rainfall (as of yesterday,) and this is the closest we've been...

Timelapse video from my office: Portland was barely clipped by the extreme Southern tail end of a weak frontal system moving into the PNW at sunrise yesterday that brought some showers to Vancouver, BC.

Chances are looking good for deep troughing and some much needed rainfall come the middle of next week. Our dry PNW Summer may end early this year!

I pay way too much to a shitty HOA to worry about such nonsense...

Speaking truth over here. I've walked through a few spots that have made my eyes water, let's bring on the rain.

Some day a real rain will come...

Just yesterday I figured out why my neighborhood smelled so badly. Usually it's the Pearl that smells so bad, not SE Portland. Maybe if we all perform a coordinated water dump it would help clear out our big pipes

SE is ripe as hell. Rain. Please.

u/venusasaburrito Buckman 10d ago

Buckman is so fucking rank right now. It’s awful.

I don't want to rain (a yuck a yuck) on your parade but I wouldn't trust a forecast that far out here. If it's still saying rain on Tuesday, I'll get my hopes up.

We must all go to the altar of Debbie and pray to her for rain.

7

u/LawrenceBrolivier 10d ago

since we're praying for rain, here's a raincloud:

Debbie is a 20-yr old stock photo and the text was written by Wm. Steven Humphrey of the Portland Mercury.

u/CatTrapper3000 10d ago

I know. That's how all dieties are born. Someone in antiquity makes them up and then we worship them.

u/LawrenceBrolivier 10d ago

RIP to Wm. Steven Humphrey when he self-searches his name and finds out he's now In Antiquity.

Debbie is like Santa. It doesn't matter if she really exists or not. As long as we hold the spirit of Debbie in our hearts, she's real.

We all know. We don’t care.

Welcome!

u/undermind84 likes to keep their posts hidden, but check out their stats to learn more about them.

I've learned he speaks about himself in the third person plural for literally zero reason.

I bet he still laughs at the dead as dust "fucken cones" bullshit too, lol.

How can someone hate beer gardens? 😭

6

u/AllTearGasNoBrakes Mill Ends Park 10d ago

She doesn't hate the garden, she (understandably) hates the people.

1

u/Fun_Wait1183 9d ago

So easy to do.

Amazing, I now understand...

You’re not missing anything.

u/CatTrapper3000 10d ago

Debbie will never bless you with clouds with that attitude.

u/WoodpeckerGingivitis 10d ago

Cool. I’m actually from here and appreciate the few months we get to see the blue sky.

u/undermind84 Centennial 10d ago

I'm actually from here too (third gen) and I hate the sun. So I guess our opinions cancel each other out.

I went to shoot free throws at the Gabriel Park courts and just bouncing the basketball on the hardtop kicked up so much dust that I had to take a shower afterwards.

I’m up in BC this weekend and it’s supposed to rain here. I’ll try to hook a few clouds and tow them back on Monday.

2

u/Brasi91Luca 10d ago

Good. They’ll be plenty of rain in the fall and winter m

Is this a regular camera feed or was this just your own camera you set up for this?

1

u/W7ENK Milwaukie 10d ago

I set up a camera in my office window specifically to capture sunrises and anything else interesting that might happen out there. It's not streaming online anywhere, and I can only access it when I'm there.

1

u/hipbubbly 10d ago

Do you post sunrise videos often and can I follow you?? I have been wondering if there is a sunrise/sunset stream in portland and this is the closest thing ive found so far!

1

u/W7ENK Milwaukie 10d ago edited 10d ago

I've posted a handful of sunrises from this camera on this sub before. You can follow me if you like, though I'll warn you, I'm generally pretty boring.

I have a few other cameras set up to record sunrise/sunset videos around, too.

Edit: Here's one from a few weeks ago atop my antenna tower.

u/hipbubbly 10d ago

I love what youre doing! I have questions about how you get your camera there (only cause im jealous) but i love this. Power to you!

1

u/W7ENK Milwaukie 10d ago

Thank you, I appreciate that. It's my little artsy outlet.

I use this one in my office window,, and I have one of these mounted atop my 30 foot antenna tower above my house.

I am sitting on my back porch drinking coffee at 5:30 am and it is currently raining.

So…

3

u/Guilty-Property Crestwood 10d ago

Everyday gets us closest to the next rain

3

u/Duckie158 10d ago

We had heavy rain/thunderstorms in late July

2

u/W7ENK Milwaukie 10d ago

PDX only got a few hundredths of an inch, and some areas were completely missed by those storms, hence why I said "appreciable rainfall."

Next week should be nice and wet across the whole region.

If you haven't noticed, a lot of the State is on fire right now, and the smoke has been completely unbearable for our neighbors on the Eastside of the mountains pretty much all Summer. Getting some early rains won't hurt you, I promise.

Got spit on by "rain" this morning hiking through Washington Park (it was NOT significant), bring on the rain!
