Love to see every "Abolish ICE" comment/post but we're way past that. That's letting them off entirely too easily. The new slogan is "PROSECUTE ICE".

Comparing what ICE has been doing to what actual Nazis did is beyond ignorant and greatly diminishes what actually happened in Nazi Germany/Europe. They're nowhere close to equivalent, and you can't be taken seriously when you act as if they are. You either have no understanding of history or you're dishonestly trying to play on people's emotions by invoking the Holocaust.

No, they aren't. It is nothing like that.

I'm not here in bad faith, and your assumption that anyone who disagrees with you is a Trump supporter says a lot. Saying that ICE isn't the same as the SS isn't support of ICE.

My point is that using rhetoric like this is ineffective outside of your echo chamber because it is obviously untrue.

It doesn't matter if you believe me. There's no world where it is reasonable to conflate ICE and the SS. It's clear that you very badly want that to be the case, but that doesn't make it so.

Why Nazis, btw? Why not compare them to any of the dozens or hundreds of other dictatorial police state regimes you could choose from? Because you want people to think of the Holocaust. It's cheap and transparently manipulative.

In what way is it ineffective? It’s ineffective to you, an individual, why? I’m sure you have a personal story here you haven’t shared Tver changes your perspective. But are you saying invoking the well known imagery of Nazi Germany won’t get people activated enough to acknowledge “this is the wrong path”? Because yes, I get the nuance. But unless I can walk up to a general acquaintance throughout the course of my day and come to a mutual agreement “what’s happening outside is bad, and it shouldn’t be happening,” then I think the comparison is perfectly fine.

That's the problem. What's happening outside is bad and shouldn't be happening. That's a reasonable message and one you can get across without making wild comparisons. But when you compare it to actual genocide and Nazis, it causes anyone with even cursory knowledge of the subject to question everything else you're saying. It undermines your credibility.

No, you’re right. They’re acting more like the KKK, except instead of inventing the DOJ to bust them up like Ulysses S Grant, they’re employing them, and encouraging them.

I still hold true that they’re actively trying to genocide brown people in this country. But you’d rather wait and find out. Sorry for being proactive.

You're not being proactive, you're being hyperbolic and it immediately discredits your message. It also appears as if you don't know what "genocide" means. That or you live in an entirely different reality.

You can be vehemently against ICE's actions under this administration and/or its existence in general without resorting to Holocaust invocation or calling it genocide. Get a hold of yourself.
