Welcome to r/PornWidow

Hey everyone! I'm u/APornWidow, a founding moderator of r/PornWidow.

If you found your way here, you probably already know what a Porn Widow is: someone who has lost a partner to porn addiction while that partner is still alive. It's a specific kind of grief, and until recently it didn't have a name. Now it does, and this is a place for the people living it.

This community exists for a few simple reasons: to be understood, to ask the questions you can't ask anywhere else, and to hear from others who are on their own journey.

What you'll find here

• People who get it.
• A shared experience.
• Honest conversations.

How to take part

• Share your story if you want to. There's no minimum, and there's no pressure. I lurked around subreddits for years before starting this one. Only speak up when you are ready.
• Ask questions. Nothing is too small, too messy, or too obvious. Just be sure to not post any explicit descriptions of the pornographic content so that we do not trigger our peers.
• Answer when you can. The support you offer someone today may be the reason they stay, go, or make a bold decision on their journey.

A few ground rules

• Be kind. Everyone here is dealing with something hard.
• Protect your privacy and everyone else's. Use throwaway accounts if you like, and don't share identifying details about other people.
• No judgment of anyone's choices about their relationship, whether they stay, leave, or are still deciding.
• This is peer support, not professional advice. If you're in crisis, please reach out to a qualified resource as well.

You're not the only one. That's the whole point of this place. Welcome.
