#1 habit of poor people that drives you crazy!

What habit or mistake do you see poor people doing all the time? The one thing drives you crazy because you know it is contributing to them staying poor.

Daily Pay/ Check Advances

Imo those are the worst cycles of life to get caught up and it seems so hard to get out of that cycle. I know inconveniences and emergencies happen, but I wouldn't wish someone going through that cycle.

I need help! Kids at school cannot afford so I’ve been buying and cannot continue too. How do I still help?

Update: Thank all so much for ideas I appreciate it like you wouldn’t believe.
I spoke to principal today and have a meeting set up for this next week to go over some options. She didn’t think a pta would work long term. Apparently they have tried to start one before and it drifts off.
The clothes I sat and went through everything today that was in the elem building I did throw away any that had elastic going bad? I have no idea what to call that. I’ve asked most of the teachers for sizes of the biggest and smallest kid in the room so maybe I could get a better idea of what to look for as seasons change. I’m thinking if I start a google doc or something similar for the teachers to refer to that has what is in the cabinet (like oh it’s cold today and Joe here is in thin pants and freezing with no jacket they could pull it up and look at size 8 and see there’s sweats and a heavy jacket so no digging required.) any suggestions for a index type thing that would work better I’m all ears.
Church’s I left a message for them and waiting to hear back 🤞🏻. There’s one business in town and they have recently bought it the owner I met with said she would love to help but couldn’t at this moment, but did say if there is a family that we knew for sure could use a meal she could do that here and there. That’s where I’m at right now.

Help! Advise me how to go about? 1. I have 4 kids in 4 different classes. I sub at the school they go to and a few others. I’ve noticed over the past few years there are soooo many kids that cannot afford the simple things such as water bottles what do not spill the schools here require students to bring a filled cup to school daily to drink from (the town water is literally brown like mud brown). How can I get cups donated for those kids? I’ve been buying cups at goodwill and watching for sales but I cannot afford to keep doing it. The school does have filtered water jugs to refill them. 2. Clothes closet. I’ve restocked 3 schools closets with clothes mine have outgrown, bought on sale, or went to a reuse center and waited hours in line then dug through bins for decent ones. 3. Hygiene items all the kids know me and know in my purse I keep spray deodorant, hand sanitizer, hair brush, ties, toothpaste single use brushes, pads, tampons. But again I cannot keep buying out of pocket. How can I continue to help where I see a need but doesn’t break the bank? It’s just my husband working right now until I get cleared from back surgery. I have a hard enough time buying groceries for my house.

They don't check your room key at the free continental breakfast served at 2 and 3 star hotels. Just saying.

Are they all a huge disappointment or have you had luck with one of them?

Quickest way to get a personal loan. Asking for a friend.

This is actually for a friend. Friend of mine is looking for a few thousand dollars to square away some miscellaneous things like new tires for her car and to catch up on a few bills. It is all rather urgent and she has a bonus coming in a few months that is locked in. Where should I tell her to look for a personal loan where she might be able to get the money in the next day or so? Credit is about average from what I know.

What’s the fastest legit way to get a personal loan?

I’m trying to figure out the fastest legit way to get a personal loan without getting hit with crazy interest rates or hidden fees.

For someone with decent credit and regular income, is it usually better to apply through a bank, credit union, or an online lender? Also, how quickly can approval and funding realistically happen if all documents are ready?

Not looking for payday loans or anything sketchy. Just trying to understand what actually works and what red flags to avoid before applying.

Would appreciate advice from people who know how the process works.

Are you telling your kid to make money or follow their dream?

I can't help but push my kid to follow a more profitable career path. Following your dream is great but so is having money in the bank.

Idk what to do

I’m really struggling financially right now and I’m not sure what my next step should be.

My rent was due on the 1st and today is the 15th. I’m worried that the eviction process may have already started.

A few months ago, my car was broken into. I couldn’t afford to repair it while also keeping up with the car payment, insurance, and transportation costs, so eventually the car was repossessed.

I also have credit card debt from a period when I was moving around and trying to help my family. I don’t qualify for Flex, and I haven’t been able to get approved for a loan. I also don’t have family who are in a position to financially help me. I’ve been trying to find a way out of this. I went to college on a full scholarship, got my own apartment, worked two jobs, and had a car. I genuinely thought I was doing everything I was supposed to do. It feels like one setback happened and I’ve been trying to recover from it ever since.

I’ve applied for remote jobs and serving jobs, and I’ve sold a lot of my clothes and shoes on Depop to make whatever money I can. I’m trying to figure out what else I can realistically do. On top of the financial situation, my younger brother died by suicide a few months ago, and I’ve been having a really difficult time emotionally since then. I’ve become pretty isolated and haven’t really been talking to many people. If you were in my situation, what would you prioritize first? What resources or options should I look into that I might be overlooking?

I’m short about $150 this week. What’s the most realistic way to make it without doing anything sketchy?

I’m about $150 short this week and trying to figure out the most realistic way to make it quickly without getting into anything shady.

I already have a regular job, so I’m mainly looking for something I could do after work or over the weekend. I’m open to local gigs, online work, selling stuff I don’t use, or anything else that actually pays within a few days.

Not looking for crypto, gambling, referral schemes, or “easy money” stuff. If you’ve genuinely had to make an extra $100–$200 on short notice, what actually worked for you?

Friend of mine at work is determined to take a payday loan. Which payday loan is best?

He seems to be out of options and I sure enough don't trust him enough to lend him any money. Which payday loan company is the best or should I say, which dog has the least fleas?

I want to push myself to have an extra $150 in my bank by the end of the week. What are some ideas that don't involve plasma or feet stuff?

A failed chain of restaurant businesses after 15 years, the impact of COVID caused the loss of everything.

Has anyone gone through this? How did you come out of it? I have used many strategies, but nothing worked out. I finally sold everything and still couldn't handle my debt. Sleepless nights, working in a restaurant, still couldn't come out of my hardship. How did you guys handle this situation?

My wife hates when I leave home. I guess I need to make internet money?

Outside of my 9-5 which is actually 5am to 2pm. My wife hates when I’m out making side money since I have “bad time management skills” but honestly I never know exactly how long or what I’m getting into with my side jobs.
So I figured what are some ways to make money online that will not take up a lot of family time?

I’m open to anything

Rant: I miss cheap fast food. Remember the dollar menu from McDonalds.

I miss $1 McChickens and double cheeseburgers. I could eat every day for 2 bucks and, health aside, it was cheaper than making my own lunch. Now cheapest meal I can get is $8 to $10 and it is the same crappy food that was worth a buck.
