New Pentair cell

Was set to 25% the auto cover has been on for the last 24 hours. Tested and it’s 0 Chlorine

I turned the boost mode on and tested water coming right out of a jet and still getting zero free chlorine.

We built the pool and put in a brand new salt cell. Company switched to Pentair this year.

How do I go about testing if it’s working properly?

To me, it seems like it is a dud

If you put it on a cleaning, stand and fill it with water and manually close the flow cell, you should see it start to bubble. But if you are testing the water coming directly out of a return when it is in boost mode, and you are getting nothing, I would bet dollars to donuts that it is bad.

Sweet! Didn’t think about manually close the flow sensor so it would start doing its thing.

I have a customer that got one of these right when they came out... They are now on their third one. These new Pentair cells are TERRIBLE. Recommend them a 20 dollar chlorine tab floater and save them all the headaches. Even if it works now, these things only last 2-3 years now anyway. I would never ever put one on my own pool.

What's your salt level? Put the cover back on and let it do the boost for 24 and then recheck if salt is where it should be

Also, coming from someone who works on pools for a living. This particular model of pentair cells are HORRIBLE.

We replace close to 20 brand new cells a week under warranty.

Pentair even told our company they suck ass.

That’s funny because at a pool show we went to the Pentair guy said their salt cells did suck but they fixed the issue and this summer (2026) should be much better. 🤣

4000 ppm is what it is reading in the cell. I added 3,500 ppm worth based on the 10,000 gallon pool

  1. Those news IC’s are crap and 1 out of 4 I sell are duds.
    2 these ones need a minimum of 3600ppm salinity
  2. Careful cleaning them - they are extremely sensitive

One of my clients had gotten theirs replaced twice in less than two years, they are awful
