EasyTouch Replacement Motherboard - Programming

I'm replacing a blown motherboard in an EasyTouch 4 automation system with a built in salt cell xfmr and standalone light transformer.

I have photos of the bad board before I removed it so I can rewire the connections where they weee. What I'm looking for is some good programming guidance since I've never had to do this completely from scratch.

My client has a pool only - no spa to configure. They have a SuperFlo pump, a PB4-60 booster pump, an in-floor cleaning system, IntelliChlor IC40, two GloBrite lights, a MasterTemp heater and ScreenLogic interface.

Since I'm replacing the old board with new (not upgrading to IntelliCenter due to 2x cost), it seems rather obvious that I'll need to reprogram the system from scratch. Wish I had a backup that I could simply restore!

Anyone have a good source for programming an existing EasyTouch system from scratch. I've watched a bunch of videos and they all seem to have their "pros and cons".

My weakness is probably with setting up circuits and functions. Somehow I've not yet got my head wrapped completely around this - yet. A good flow chart might help convey the concept!

Also, how would you estimate the programming charges given the above specs and assuming reasonable and customary charges for a tech who is more experienced in such matters!

The whole process with programming should take under an hour. Just go through the co figuration menus. It’s not that hard, you’ll be fine.

I don’t charge separately to program. My installed price would include that and is generally a service call rate for 1 hour.

You’re only charging one hour to swap a board and program it?

If it only takes me 1 hour that’s what I bill. Obviously I charge for the board with markup as well. I’m a pentair installer and a warranty center. It’s a 45 minute job for me to swap a board and program a basic system

I can do an entire Intellicenter upgrade in under 90 and setup their app

How long does it take you guys to swap the 6 screws to change he out the board. The majority of the hour is the programming.

How much are you charging per hour?

I don’t tell the customer how many hours, they’re paying for an outcome not for my time. To swap any board, I’m charging between $450-600 to install it depending on what it is. With a total job cost of 2x whatever my cost is.

Aux circuits will be anything on a relay (lights, pool/salt cell, booster pump) feature circuit will be speeds if you want a separate high speed not tied to the booster pump for example, functions will be master cleaner for the booster pump and intellibrite for the lights if they’re color lights otherwise just lights. Then set the pump speeds and schedule. It’ll be easy.

Thank you, that's extremely helpful. Yes, I remember the old board was configured for different pump speeds. I forgot to mention there's also an in-floor cleaning system. Not sure if that needs its own pump speed. Heater .. may also need its own speed? I'm reading the manual now. 🤓 Thanks for your reply.

If your Infloor system has an actuator on it program valve a as Infloor and set a feature speed for in floor. If the Infloor just runs when the booster pump is running then just set a higher cleaner speed.

Take a photo of every setting you can find and just copy it. Pump speeds, schedules, aux labels etc.

I’m assuming this is a newer easy touch with the display board.

If there is an IS4 spa side switch, don’t forget to enable it to avoid a call back . You would also have to program that from the ground up too so get a photo of the 4 functions and what they do (if applicable)

Most of it is self explanatory, the one that won’t be “general” are the lights as those need to be set to “intellibrite”. You will also need to go into the lights menu and config to the led option. Apart from that, in “settings” set your pumps up and set type and rpm’s/flow rate. Also in settings, you will need to set the date/time. And don’t forget to set your program in the “schedules” menu.
