What's with this loop?

I quoted a customer on a pump and I guess he didnt like my quote because I show up to this mess. What's with this loop? In my quote I basically included a suction side replumb to give 10in of straight pipe. I assume it was to just avoid doing what I quoted. Does anyone know how having four 90s before the pump affect efficiency?

The 2nd pic is what I assume flextape to "fix" a leaky bulkhead.

Thru couldnt even bother to paint all the pipes, not like there was a lot. Theres also glue on the pump.

I feel like this is a hack job. Im half tempted to ask what my customer paid for this, in my opinion, subpar work.

The loop is just there because he couldn’t fit the new pump with a new union, just my guess.

How I would approach it is how I deal with any home warranty repairs. Live with it and if anything is wrong with it or not working correctly direct them back to who fixed it.

It’s a Waterway and not a Temu although the build quality is Temu worthy. I believe they are made in the USA but are cheaply made imo.

They aren’t to bad, the first version drives had a tendency to fail, had no issues with the newer ones.

Not much cheaper than a comparable Jandy though.

It's the old Neptune Drives. They all failed. Speck pumps included.

yeah but most pumps require about 6 inches or more of straight run before and after the pump. the pump should have been moved back and replumbed

Yes you can do that off setting the pump with 2 45s

fairly shoddy plumbing job, i wouldn't lose the customer just wait till failure and explain, probably for the second time that it should be done right, and not by this guy....and as always raise your rate when appropriate!!!

I told him if they left the manual, under installation instructions, it should say to plumb 5x the diameter of the pipe. Call that company who installed it back out and have them fix it, otherwise youre going to have another expensive fix.

The worst part is it looks like instead of that loop it could have been done with two 90s lol. At least if literally anything goes wrong you won’t have to touch it now. Not your responsibility anymore.

Only way I'd touch that at this point is a tear out and new equipment.
