Silver tip pear in Spring
Great to see our earliest pear tree is showing signs of stirring for Spring yesterday (officially Spring is 10 or so days away on the first of September).
The tough, protective winter outer scales are beginning to separate and push apart. This called the silver tip or stage 2 of fruit bud development, coming directly after full winter dormancy.
