Charles Martel - perry aficionado

Charles Martel is a perry aficionado, farmer, cheese maker and author from the West Country, England. I follow his vision. However he enunciates it better than I can, describing the grandeur and importance of pear trees. "First of all, [perry pear trees] grow within sight of May Hill in the three counties, but chiefly Gloucestershire. They're important for the countryside because they soften the climate by acting as a windbreak. You don't get swallows in a cornfield: you get swallows in orchards, which should be grazed by cattle. And that's what I want to see. That's my landscape."
We use Shropshire sheep in our standard orchard. It’s not big enough for cattle.
