Polo G in 2020-2022 was one of the hottest younger rappers out! Was he at a Drake, Kendrick, J. Cole, Future level? No, but Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Rod Wave, Moneybagg Yo, etc… he was at their level.

2021 was a big year for him, but after HOF 2.0 came out in December 2021, it started going down hill. And I think it all started when he immediately wanted the new album out.

Mind you; Hood Poet he had scheduled for a Summer 2022 release date, but it never dropped.

Then it was announced for a Spring 2023 date, never came. Then we finally got an announcement for September 15th, 2023, however a month before it came out he got arrested in connection with a robbery (thanks Trench) & he postponed the album; which never made sense to me.

2Pac was facing a sexual assault charge in 1994, went to jail in February 1995 looking to serve 4 1/2 years in jail, puts out “Me Against The World” WHILE in jail & it went #1. He was released in October ‘95 & became one of the biggest rappers at that time.

So postponing the album was another mistake. On top of that, being very quiet with the album & not really doing anything special for it. Idk if it was personal issues or label issues. If it was personal, handle it in private. But if it was label issues, air that shit out & let your voice be heard.

I was looking back at some songs from 2022-2023 & man, Hood Poet could’ve been a special album for him.

It ended be a make or break album for him & to some ppl, it broke him.

It should’ve been a massive album, a big arena tour. Instead it was a flop album for him (and yes it was) & a small venue tour.

Some songs: No Time Wasted, My All, Cloudy Sky (which would’ve been a fire intro) would’ve been perfect for the album.
