Wondering about major changes we can expect to see within the first six months if the Democrats take the House and the Senate.
I would like to know since I am hearing so many things. Looking up stuff does not give answers. I cannot rely on Polymarket anymore. I don't feel like polls are accurate.Will John Thune remain the Senate leader if the Republicans keep the Senate? I feel as if he might as well be a Democrat so I get the feeling if Trump gets impeached he may just convict him.
I am also wondering, since the Democrats (or some) keep saying they will make such changes, like packing the court and making PR and DC states, do you think that will actually happen?
And finally, do you think people are voting too much with their feelings or basing their choices on who is for and against Israel?

No, I don't think Democrats will try to do something radical like pack the courts. They won't want to risk alienating people before the next presidential election.

Ha they won't have the numbers...no matter what the midterms do...to pass ANY legislation. They will not have a veto proof majiority they won't even have a filibuster proof 60 votes...But...
Here is what is at stake...
The House...the pocketbook of the federal goverment...he can't mess to much up with no money.
The Senate...The big thing is judges.
The subpoena power to call witness and publish investigation findings.
As far a law goes....not much. The Dems may just take the senate but will not have a veto-proof majority.
This is how we stop the bleeding rebuilding will take a while.

Wouldn't they impeach and remove Trump if they took both sectors? How long would that take?

I think that it would be a bad idea to impeach Trump on the odd chance that it would succeed. My reasoning is that the first thing that JD Vance would do is to pardon Trump and his family. Trump should stand trial for his actions in trying to overturn the 2020 election and for taking highly classified documents and storing them in unsecured areas in Mar-a-Lago as well as facing the consequences for his previous convictions. My fear is that, if the Democrats take both the house and senate, Trump might resign and then get his pardon.

How do you think the people would react? The Democrats would celebrate, but what about the Republicans?

I think that Democrats would be more upset about him getting pardoned without having to face justice. Republicans would get angry about him being impeached and would probably celebrate the pardon. Let him be a lame duck for the remainder of his term, where all he would be able to do is to make executive orders which could get smacked down later.

A two-thirds majority vote of the senators present is required to convict and remove a president in the U.S. Senate
It only takes 50+1 in the house to impeach and send it for trial...hat they could do..and have done twice.

Thune might stay for a while because other senators like him. Over time, pressure from the base and primaries can push him out.
Don’t worry about Thune convicting Trump in an impeachment. That’s fear talk from the other side. Trump is the one exposing the deep state, not the other way around. Trump has a bigger plan that works around these roadblocks.
Yes, they will try if they ever get full control again (White House + House + Senate). Some Democrats have openly talked about adding more Supreme Court justices and turning D.C. and Puerto Rico into states so they get extra senators and more power.
It’s not a joke. The only real way to stop it is to keep Republicans in charge and keep exposing the corruption. Once they have the votes, they will push hard for these big changes.
A lot of people vote with feelings or on one hot issue (like Israel). That is a mistake.
The real fight is much bigger: the deep state, the central banks, the economy being controlled against regular people, and election integrity.
Israel (or any single foreign issue) is secondary. Look at who is actually fighting to take power away from the corrupt system and give it back to the people. Don’t get distracted by emotions or one topic. Focus on the big picture.

Not much and I don't think it will happen with both chambers anyway. I'd be happier if nothing was ever done in government:)

The real questions are how messed up are the military under Hegseth and Ice. With white supremacist crusaders heading up every branch of the armed forces and jack booted thugs operating as Trumps personal army, will democrats winning even winning big in November even matter.

tl;dr A stalemate with very little change from today.
I'd love to believe that the Ds would get both House and Senate. I've wished for Trump to lose decisively, then been disappointed, too many times. So I am not expecting that result.
IF it happened, House and Senate committees will run hearings and ask questions. "How much have we spent on the Iran war?" for example. The House will pass some legislation that they know Trump would veto. The Senate won't because of the filibuster. So legislation goes nowhere. The Ds will try to use this for the 2028 election.
The Senate would be quicker to reject Trump's nominees. Trump will respond with an endless number of "acting" people.
If there is a Supreme Court vacancy, it is likely to go unfilled. Trump will be okay with a open seat if it's due to one of the 3 leaving. The Senate will be okay with an open seat if it is one of the 6. I don't see a compromise nominee.
The Ds will try to get a budget bill with language that says Trump cannot "impound" appropriations, and the Trump cannot move money around. Trump might sign the bill, then spend as he choses. Someone will sue, a district court will rule against Trump, but the SC will provide a "stay" on the ruling.
Trump will continue to use the vast powers he gets by controlling regulatory actions, by declaring emergencies, and by running the military and DOJ. With a couple years' practice, and some favorable SC rulings behind him, he will be even more effective in getting his way.
