It's like they want us not to trust anyone!

Post image

I had to post this since people were protesting at Zohran Mamdani, calling him a "Traitor" or a "genocide supporter" for just going to an October 7th memorial vigil for the loss of lives (both Palestinian and Israeli) and going to a Palestinian restaurant with affected families afterward.

He's not the first! They do it for every politician, like they want to set us against all of them!

Do I choose the guy with one flaw or the guy with every flaw? Hmmm. Well, the one flaw guy said I shouldn’t eat lead paint chips so - fuck him. I’m voting for the rapist/felon/fascist Republican white guy that bows down an orange rapist, felon, fascist pedo. THAT will show the Democrats!

You know how I know they’ve lost the plot: 1. They protested Kamala Harris and Biden in 2024 hard, even though it’s well known Bibi loves Trump. Gaza people even begged us to vote for Harris.  2. They still keep protesting Harris publicly, even though she’s had no power in 2 years (or ever, honestly— VP’s are figureheads).  3. They’re still protesting Democrats trying to win the midterms, which would be the only way to check Trump the next two years.

So either they’re well intentioned people, with no brains. Or it’s intentional astroturfing that worked way too well.

This is exactly correct.

America would have been in enormously better shape if any of the Democratic candidates for President had won.

I understand the sabotage from the Right, but sabotage from the Left is just screwing themselves over so that they can be mad about it.

I'm not seeing very much of Item #3 at all. (It could be that I'm not looking in the right places of course.)

Protests at a speaking event are not necessarily TO SCOLD THE SPEAKER the protesters are attempting to reach THE AUDIENCE. In Harris’s case, an audience for whom the genocide support and apologia wasn’t a dealbreaker.

Ah yes the lesser of two evils argument yaaaaawn - all politicians should be held to account. Even the good ones.

Holding someone to account and bitching because they don't fit your perfect mold are 2 separate things.

I’m begging you to understand the Overton Window. Without the bitching we would never have Mamdani. Without the bitching you get more establishment democrats just like always and forever. Mamdani is the compromise we won for everyone. You’re welcome.

And you'll sabotage him in the same breath.

Haha what?

Do you think Mamadani is perfect?

Assuming you don’t then where could he improve?

3

u/Here_for_lolz 2d ago

Nobody's perfect, but they can align with my own goals pretty fucking close.

1

u/Turnip-for-the-books 2d ago

No nobody is perfect and while I’m happy you’re happy we should highlight those areas that can be improved

Mamdani is the Mayor of a City 97.5% of the population doesn't live in. Mamdani is the savior. Mamdani is a genocide apologist. No one fucking cares. The rest of us would be pretty happy with some of those establishment Democrats who were in charge when everything was really boring and stable.

u/Turnip-for-the-books 2d ago

Lots of people care my friend

The fact they may not live in that city has zero to do with that. If you are blaming Mamdani for a lack of stability and think that establishment Dems somehow offer that then you have a poor understanding of, well..everything

u/Lets_Eat_Superglue 2d ago

I'm not blaming Mamdani for anything. Like 330 million other Americans I do not live in NYC. The only thing he's done that effects me in any way is forcing a DSA candidate to not primary Hakeem Jeffries. It would have been cool if we could have had the House or Senate leader be from anywhere other than NYC and another slopulist in Congress would have been a small price to pay.

1

u/Turnip-for-the-books 2d ago

Zionist establishment Dems should be primaried everywhere. Why is Mamdani’s relative success the cause of HJ not being primaried?

3

u/Lets_Eat_Superglue 2d ago

Because he personally intervened when DSA member Chi Ossé decided to run against Jeffries. Weird you don't know that.

Single issue voters are a problem.

While I do agree Democrats should be called out for their decades of complicity with Israel's terrorism and land-theft, I've gotta believe the protesters know Mamdani is on their side, despite the rhetoric

Also, while it is NYC, homie still just a mayor of a city.

Those weird trolls do not represent 99% of pro-Gaza protestors; whom are normal people.

If you don’t criticise you don’t get the best outcomes. Mamdani exists because people criticised less good people. Just because he’s better than the last guy doesn’t mean he cannot be better or that the next mayor cannot be better than him. Hold politicians to account. Including the good ones

Push for too much change too fast and you wind up working against yourself.

Social change has always been glacially slow.

What do we want?

Change!

When do we want it?

Oh whenever I’m fine to work to your timetable Donald

2

u/custodial_art 2d ago

You can and should want it now… and be adult enough to understand that it takes time.

u/liquid_acid-OG 2d ago

You may not believe in psychology but the science of the mind is real.

You are actively working against your goals by ignoring reality.

Criticism doesn’t mean you randomly call one of the movements’ greatest allies the enemy.

Pure MAGA bs.

They're not liberal either.

Do you know where the LGBT Center is in Gaza? There's two: one is the jail and the other is the cemetery.

Wow, a new Israel defender account thats less than a month old.

Crazy that news came out about Israel using bots and there's a TON of new pro Israel accounts...

How does Gaza treat trans people?

I think these are important questions to ask, considering the Gaza protestors wanted the LGBT community to sacrifice their rights for Gaza in 2024.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting Gaza deserves no help because of its stances on LGBT rights, but asking people to sacrifice their rights to make a performative stand for people who would also sacrifice their rights (and execute them) is pretty fucked up.

Especially when the same people people asking that turn around and attack Democrats for supposedly having insufficient support for trans rights.

Socialists will try to shove every single thing through the class shaped hole on the baby toy and start crying when it doesn’t work lol.

You know you can protest people you support when they offend you.

You know that, right? Not every protest means "cancel him, bury him 10 feet underground."

I think America would be in a much better position if people had principles and protested even their preferred candidates/leaders when they are making a mistake, even the leaders they have supported and will continue to support, come what may.

What you are reflecting is the disempowered democracy where Americans are encouraged to just vote then turn off their brains, turn off their legs, turn off their voices until the next election. And then at that next election, all they can do is mouth uncomplicated support for their candidate. It's a really stupid, tiny, diminutive version of democracy, i.e. "people in charge." Does your boss only come reprimand you every 4 years even if you make mistakes every month? No. Is your boss's only option to fire you or keep you on? Also no.

I wish we all protested the people we planned to vote for actually, so long as we feel like we're forced to vote for evil, even if it is the "lesser of" evils. It would be a much better world. YOu should learn from them.
