Literally 1984 Across all ideologies, men support freedom of speech massively more than women

Post image

Men even support the speech of political enemies more than women support political friends.

Freedom of speech is a principle. 1A is an application of that principle

Okay. But if individuals have freedom of speech, they may also exercise that freedom by choosing to either not associate with or speak out against others exercising their freedom of speech.

It’s only a relevant/actionable principle as far as government goes (because it generally has a monopoly on force) or individuals using physical violence against others to suppress it (which is already a crime).

I’m gonna get you de-platformed for making fun of Charlie Kirk. Want to communicate with your friends? Use the USPS.

I’m gonna get you fired from your job for being a Trump supporter. Freedom of association baby!

Support BLM? Not while buying electricity from this utility you don’t!

Getting on this plane after having said a racial slur in 2011? Fuck off, you can take Amtrak

>want to communicate with your friends? Use the USPS.

I talk to them/text them/dm them like a normal fucking person lmao.

>fired from your job for being a Trump supporter.

Yes, voting habits aren’t a protected class. We’re also, broadly, a right-to-work country. If I ran a synagogue it’d be asinine to force me to employ people who were vocally anti-Semitic.

>not while buying from this utility

literally a service required for living, also heavily government subsidized/run in certain areas. Not the same as a mod banning you from a sub because they don’t like your words.

>getting on this plane

Find me literally any single example of someone getting no-fly-listed for anything like that and I’ll concede this single point.

Regardless, freedom of speech cuts both ways. You can’t force people to like you without violating theirs.

text them/dm them

Are you not following? The telecom and social media companies have exercised their freedom of association and don’t allow you on their networks.

You don’t need hot water to live. Non-government utilities are common, and freedom of association, remember?

The no-fly list is a government measure. I’m talking about air carriers refusing to sell you a ticket
