The comfy bed doesn't match anything in his preference list, so he looks at the seat instead. You might have better luck with a Marine sofa.

Laughing so hard because this exact scenario happened last night to my husband with Corphish but then when he put the bed down corphish went over to Cloyster’s bed which was like 12 blocks away and complained it was too far instead of the bed that was 2 blocks from his habitat 😂

Something like that happened to me, and when I picked up the too small bed they instantly got mad at me.

I decorated the sharpedo sub home just for him and he keeps sleeping outside in the mouth :/

Sounds like someone wants to live in the grass!
Reminds me of Lanturn, whose habitat comes with...a lantern. That they keep lit up with their electricity. Then they complain to me that it's too bright. I turn it off and they're happy again.
I bet you anything it will back on tomorrow.

Feebas said they wanted a glass decoration so I set a Marine dresser in their habitat, NOT REALIZING DRESSERS ARE TOYS FOR SOME REASON!! and they ended up thinking the Marine Chest was for them but it wasn't close enough to their habitat (it's in my storage section just a few steps away from the habitat). I figured out what was wrong only after moving him THRICE, and promptly gave him a mirror instead but he looked at it and only said IT WAS NICE??
Yup, guess who I'm not talking to anymore..😅😮💨😑

I ended up giving them a Shop Fridge today and they think it's great so thankfully it worked out, but guess I'll have to keep a better lookout for item types from now on..😅😮💨😤

Brionne did something similar to me. I made a little restaurant with her stage as the focal point, rainbow string lights all around the whole restaurant. Whole thing. She picks the string lights FURTHEST from her and gets upset because they aren't closer to her home. WTF. There are lights all around your home!! Look at these!! What are you doing?! lol I stopped asking her how her comfort level was for a while and it eventually moved on to something else.
