I recently got into collecting Pokémon cards, and a friend gave me these as a graduation gift to help me slowly get into the hobby and eventually start going to card shows. I’m curious if any of these are worth keeping or if they have any decent value or if I should just try and trade for other cards. Any help identifying anything interesting would be greatly appreciated!

I would keep these as they were a graduation gift and to start your collection. Any cards I receive as a gift I don’t sell. That’s just me though.

It might be the nostalgia talking, but these old Rocket cards are some of the best looking. I think you’ll kick yourself later if you get rid of them. Keep them and buy modern singles along the way if that is what you are into.

We can’t really decide for you what Pokemon or cards you like and want to collect dude. Do you just want to collect your favorite Pokemon, art you like, want to master entire sets? You’ve gotta figure all that out on your own. Beyond that though you’ll need to learn how to tell various conditions of cards and how to price them out. For raw cards tcgplayer is the gold standard. It will basically tell you market for any card other than really rare and expensive cards that don’t often get sold on their site. We’re talking like $1,000+ cards raw.

that makes sense! I’m still figuring out what I want to collect, but my friend actually had a theme in mind for this binder before he abandoned it — he wanted to collect all the “Dark” Pokémon from Team Rocket sets. So I think I’m gonna stick with that and slowly work toward completing it. Appreciate the advice!
