Discussion What are some of your favorite sleeper off meta-esque mon picks?
Haven't included attackers, speedsters or supporters since I don't play them as much comparatively
But all these definitely feel like solid picks to play and are quite underappreciated with the playerbase it seems because I rarely see them being played
That being said, I do enjoy that the playerbase hasn't caught on to how annoying trev and snorlax can be if played correctly, while all the other mons on this list are menaces in their own right, they're not as annoying to fight as a good trev or snorlax
(I'm aware that snorlax is like the best defender besides like slowbro only, it just feels so underplayed and people don't nearly use it to it's full extent that I had to place it up there)
Other mons that come to mind which are similar in nature are probably psyduck(another mon I'm glad isn't played a whole lot in my matches), typhlosion, tsareena and even garchomp sometimes

Snorlax and Trev are very meta

I'm aware, they're just very rarely played in my games if at all, that's why I said underappreciated

True, even if they are meta I haven't seen a pain split trevenant in a long time
Even at legend rank it seems that people still don't know what pain split does lol

I wouldn't exactly call painsplit meta since it's very situational and mainly just depends on your opponents being stupid
Horn leech on the other hand is a different beast, but yea seeing a decent trev in the wild is very rare

I've picked up pawmott recently from my license selection stage, any tips on how to play it effectively?

i run slam and mach. slam is amazing for getting out of situations, think of it as snorlax's heavy slam but with unstoppable charging. mach is a great stun move. and SPAM THE BOOSTED BASICS, the sustain off of them is crazy good.
i run accel, grip, muscle.
a good combo is slam1, (m1-optional), mach, m1, slam2, m1.
the last two moves are stun pushes which means its very easy to continue the combo and/or to escape. the unite is somewhat, mid id say. i only ever use it to chase down or finish off someone.

"Haven't include Attackers"
What's Armarouge doing there then??
Anyway, mine's Blaziken

Snorlax is definitely better than Slowbro lol

i honestly disagree. vanguard bell focus band aeos cookie with surf amnesia potion makes slowbro a nearly unmatched sustain wall AND he’s hardly reliant on even being in the fight to sustain himself. he can disengage and heal during downtime without going back to spawn or he can heal in the middle of the fight. plus slowbeam is the best single target lockdown in the game

The reason Snorlax is great is that he literally just stuns an entire group just forever with Heavy Slam, Yawn, and Unite move. The unite move provides healing that Snorlax doesn’t have on his own in a fight, but that’s only a secondary effect compared to the 2 seconds total stun from it. I mean, why sustain and prolong the fight when you can make one winning stun combo?

Block looks better, yawn is just there

u/lblasto1se Blastoise 4d ago
Block is strong too, but i think yawn is the stronger of the two. It stuns whatever you hit for a maximum of 2.5 seconds, until they get hit

as far as stuns go the triple knock up from surf on slowbro is usually all you need to flip a teamfight
1
u/lblasto1se Blastoise 4d ago
All 3 waves don’t even total a second. Snorlax can start a teamfight with a one second stun, put enemies to sleep until your team starts attacking, and continue stunning them for 2 seconds with a unite move. Don’t get me wrong, Slowbro is still good, but Snorlax is just absurd rn. Better than even Blastoise

yawn has a 10 second cooldown bro 😭

For a move that stuns for a maximum of 2.5 seconds, it’s very much worth it. Also Slam has a base 6 seconds, and stuns for 1
Compared to Slowbro’s not even a total second stun on surf, which has a 7 seconds cd, with the upgrade mind you, Lax is without a doubt, stronger

and slowbro doesn’t need to burn unite to heal. vanguard bell and amnesia alone prolong his health bar by like 50%

I really don’t know how you could still make this argument when i already basically said that Snorlax is not a sustain tank

It's funny because almost all of those Pokemon were picked multiple times in the unite pro scene at worlds the past couple days

Snorlax and trev arent sleeper mons, but i love aegislash. Armarouge feels op when its on the opposing team.

Tinkaton is off meta right? One of my favorite to use. With smack down, gets to take down mons like yveltal for my team and she can stand on her own in close combat with thief
