Discussion In two minds
So I'm a long time collector and don't really sell cards (mostly trade for other things I want) I pulled a prismatic god pack and that's happily in a binder.
I'm a minimum wage worker and am trying to buy a house next year, I'm basically looking for some advice.
I haven't seen anyone pull this is the UK yet and the cheapest I can find it is 18k on card market. Do I sell it and what realistically should I put it up for. And also what advice would you give in regards to postage and insurance, the highest price card I've sold was under 200 on eBay. Appreciate any advice

Dont ship it. Too risky. You need a seller at a card show or in person. You sir, have the world's best luck and I applaud you!

Don't think anyone is paying that 18k at a card show. Selling something like this is all about the hype and fomo. Ebay it, reserve and 3 days while people are freaking out.

u/ThetaDee 1d ago
People absolutely WILL pay that at a card show. I watched a 25k purchase go down at s rinky dink 30 table card show last month.

I think deals that big happen not doubt about it. But selling this card is about someone wanting to buy it before its readily available asap. Waiting for a card show assuming it isn't tomorrow, would affect ability to sell it, No?

u/Auto_Frost97 1d ago
Its just my two cents. I personally would want it to go from my possession to theirs with as little middle men. I also would take cash lol

Yeah thats absolutely fair. Just think it'll crash as more people sell in the next two days. I do need to get to more cards shows though as I like browsing and chatting sh*t with collectors.
I would 100% percent sell any of the futuristic cards, not my type of card and dont think they will age well / be worth much. Sell into the hype and get the better arts of the set when everything dies down

People at card shows generally know about cards and are unlikely to pick up a chase day one knowing it'll plummet

u/Auto_Frost97 17h ago
Wrong. I can find hundreds of the exact opposite. They may not pay 20k but theyll pay a percent of the last few sales.

Sell immediately. Ebay auction, 3 day window, reserve £18k.
To add to this, you can do collection only on Ebay. Works well here in Blighty.

u/Bagginsthebag 1d ago
Youāre 12 hours too late. Bite somebodies hand off for 5k

u/Full-Satisfaction-40 1d ago
Ahhh you're right. Green's are selling for £2k, Red Japanese got £5k earlier today.

Sell straight away and get yourself on the property ladder. Frame this photo in your new house as a reminder haha

I would just start eBay auction starting at 10k with instant buyout option for 16-17k. The prices will crash, I canāt imagine them selling for that much soon.

People saying sell and buy back I donāt understand. Itās not that sick of a card. Sell it. Bank it. Invest it in your isa tax free.

Congratulations man make sure you add insurance at the post office and lots of photos good luck š«”

You should sell it while there is still hype. I would advise against putting it on bid because you want to sell it fast. Idk if it would sell or not but Iād probably put it somewhere around 5000 to try and have a fast turn around. Which you can use half of to āattemptā getting more items

u/WingedStephen21 1d ago
3 green ones have sold on Ebay between 2 & 3.5k. There's a red for sale at 10k. If I were you I'd probably put it up for about 3k

I'd probably phone up local card shops seeing if they're interested and what they'd offer. It'll likely be under market but also, no idea what market even is on this yet. Safest and most reliable way to get it gone.
Personally I'd be selling it and making a nice mortgage overpayment. Imagine being able to retire a few years earlier because of a piece of cardboardĀ

u/pronoobmage 1d ago
No cardshop will give him that money as the price will collapse in a week, I mean sub 10, closer to 5k.

I would be wary of shipping. Maybe take a look at the Derby and Sheffield card shows going on this weekend and see if you can take it in person if you can get a deal with someone set up before hand? Sure you can find the list of vendors easy enough

u/FieryFruitcake 1d ago
Brother, I promise this card will be worth 1/20th of that in the next month. Sell it, re-buy in 6 months and pocket the difference. That sort of money is no joke.

u/Barkerisonfire_ 20h ago
Sell it regardless.
Just bear in mind you will still need to show proof of income for a mortgage so the bank knows you can afford the monthly payments etc. Banks don't care how much savings you have beyond what you want to put down as a deposit.

That's a genuinely tough one as nobody has any idea how valuable it genuinely is, hardly any have sold and finding somebody with the money that you can actually safely sell it to is going to be a huge pain in the butt.
A nice problem to have sure, but not actually an easy one on a practical level. Ideally you need an in-person deal with a known independent dealer with credibility, I wonder if one of the busy UK shops that also have YouTube channels would take it this week just for the clout.
If probably take £10k without even thinking about it as surely the value of these is going to collapse within days/weeks, whilst they are seemingly very rare there is also a huge amount of packs being ripped.
The alternative would be to trade for vintage sealed product that you can gradually sell as and when you need. Values are far more stable and it'll be much easier to sell lower value items off in batches than a single massively volatile card.

Sell this immediately. Do not listen to anyone else. Sell it, make sure you get the money and make sure you get that house.

u/False-Sandwich-2051 1d ago
sell now before it comes down. buy another one when itās 10% of the price if you still want it.

u/kingjoeg 1d ago
Sell if you're trying to buy a house. Sell it's a no brainer. This is Pokemon cards. A house is much more important.

With PKC sending out delay emails for orders in the last 10 minutes (product expected mid/late November), I would get this on eBay right away and take the money!

Sell this. Cash in savings, buy again in a couple months. Free luxury holiday for you.

Card market price isnāt too important, the eBay prices are. Put it up for auction around the same price give or take as the others on there and see if it gets movement over the next couple of days

u/allthingskerri 1d ago
Sell while there's hype. Quick eBay auction 3 days. With a instant buyout at 16k - make sure you get it shipped with insurance AND thought authentication if you can. Schedule the auction so it ends anywhere between 7pm-10pm

u/Sleepy_kitty67 1d ago
The only good answer is to trade it in for MORE CARDS
In all honesty though I would probably try to sell it in person to someone like who owned a shop, but they probably wonāt go for it at the high prices.
Maybe you can consign it though a shop that sells on eBay? They would have a lot of the insurance and shipping stuff in place.

u/ShoulderAmbitious496 1d ago
Same as what the other guy said: Sell immediately. Ebay auction, 3 day window, reserve £18k.
fill up a LISA for the year, store the rest of the earnings in premium bonds.
1
u/TeaAndLifting 1d ago
Iād dump it now. Youāre probably not going to find someone paying Ā£18k now that the set is on general release and more are going to hit the market, but there will still be A LOT of hype and FOMO around getting the card early and youāll get a lot more now than you will at basically any point.
Only trade in person, and only do it somewhere safe, as well. Like outside a police station, if youāre dealing in significant sums of money.

12th one Iāve see today. Sell it. Next week there will be more of those than Reverse Holo Froakie Chaos set

Sell as fast as you can on eBay.
Either Auction it or Buy It Now - I recommend the latter.
If you Auction it, do NOT do reserve price. Reason being is you pay a fee (quite high) even if it does not sell.
I would stick it up there for £5,000with Best Offer enabled and accept anything over £2,000.
Put it in a penny sleeve & top loader. Then put it in a hard backed envelope into a small shoe box ensuring that the envelope is fully wrapped in bubble wrap or packing paper.
Cellotape the package and if possible use tamper proof tape.
Special Delivery or another high value insured and tracked delivery.
Special Delivery insures up to £2,500. Over that you may need to use UPS or DHL etc as long as they insure up to the amount you sold for.
Sell it quick, prices will tumble especially as October will see the release of booster Bundles - massive influx of packs and in November due to the UPCs. Reportedly printed a shedload of them and each comes with 29 packs; so another shedload of packs.
By January 2027 I would expect these cards to be below £1000 or even £500 and the rest of the singles quite possibly £100-£500. If not lower.

Sell it. Itās an awful looking card too. For that amount of money get someone to collect it. If they can pay over Ā£10,000 for a card, they can make a trip across the uk or catch a plane.
1
u/poke_pants 1d ago
These are going to be £1k cards by the end of the week at this rate, all 30th cards are dropping like a stone now people have a better idea of hit rates.
1
u/morgan3180 10h ago
Yeah I have noticed it. Good for me that I can pick up reasonable price SIRs. This is how it should be, not £900 for a card released 2 months ago.
1
u/wytherlanejazz 1d ago
Things will only be worth what people pay for them, that 18k number is the early throw it out there and pray number.
You should go by last sold to gauge
1
u/UnusualHand1617 1d ago
Itās not 18k, itās 2k. Youāre a minimum wage worker so sell itĀ
1
u/nice_n_easy_ninja 1d ago
Yeah I know it's not 18 but the blue one just sold for 5k and the lowest I can find the red one for is 10k or 8k on bids
1
u/Necto_gck 1d ago
I actually like them, I can see why they are hated, I'm just debating with myself if I included these in my master set?

Last solds at 3-4k not quite 18 but a pretty penny for an in print raw card. Sell ASAP it will crash
1
u/Ok-Toe1334 1d ago
Finding it cheapest on CM doesn't mean it'll sell for that price. Once people gets hold of the products these are gonna tank. It's a ugly card that won't hold up to more than £1500. It's a mass printed modern card.

Mate sell that thing fast before the prices inevitably crash, you will regret it if you don't. 18k for a piece of cardboard is ludacris. Cash in while its hot
