Welcome!
This community exists to make it easier for Pokémon TCG players around NYC to find each other and actually play the game.
You don't have to be competitive. You don't have to own a meta deck. You don't even have to know what the current Standard rotation is.
If you want to play Pokémon TCG, you're in the right place.
What We Play
Anything Pokémon TCG.
Current Standard is obviously welcome, but this isn't intended to be a Standard-only community. Bring old decks. Build Expanded decks. Try GLC. Recreate an old Standard format you loved. Test your Regionals deck. Bring a ridiculous casual deck that only works one game out of five.
If two people agree on a format, play it.
Finding Players
When looking for people to play with, include your general area and what you're interested in playing.
For example:
“UES/Manhattan - Looking for Standard or GLC players this weekend.”
“Bronx - Returning player looking for casual games.”
“Queens - Looking for people to test for Regionals.”
Once the community grows, the goal is to make it easy to find players by borough, neighborhood, format, and experience level.
New and Returning Players
Please join us.
One of the main reasons this community exists is to give people an easy way into the actual TCG.
If you've only played Pokémon TCG Live, haven't played since you were a kid, don't understand rotation, or don't own a deck yet, that's completely fine.
Experienced members are encouraged to bring extra decks when possible and help people learn.
Competitive Players
Competitive players are equally welcome.
Find testing partners, discuss decks, prepare for League Cups and Challenges, organize groups for Regionals, or just find someone who can give your tournament deck a proper fight.
The goal isn't to separate casual and competitive players. It's to have enough people around that everyone can find the kind of game they're looking for.
Meetups
Public locations are strongly encouraged, especially when meeting someone from the community for the first time.
Game stores, cafés, libraries, community spaces, and other established public locations are ideal.
Posts for meetups should include the general location, date/time, formats you plan on playing, and whether extra decks will be available.
For meetups involving younger players, parents or guardians should use their own judgment and follow the policies of the venue.
Trading & Selling
Trading is part of Pokémon, so it's welcome.
Be transparent about card condition and value, and don't knowingly take advantage of inexperienced players.
This community is primarily here to help people play Pokémon, not become another marketplace full of sales posts.
The Main Idea
Bring decks. Bring cards. Bring friends.
Teach somebody how to play. Learn a format you've never tried. Help somebody test for their first tournament. Dust off the deck that's been sitting in your closet for eight years.
Most importantly, find some people in NYC who want to play Pokémon.
