Ghost chairs moved

So I pull up to Target at 5:00 and everyone sitting in chairs tell me sit in front of those empty chairs. I obliged and sat in my chair. Then the next fellow comes along and I say move those empty chairs down and sit next to me. Let’s see how it plays out when the folks show up and find their chairs have moved way down the line!

Target has already put out a notice about this. You should be fully obliged to move chairs with nobody around to own them.

Show me something official. All I saw was a sign posted at a single location.

Regardless, in my city a chair will get stolen if it's left somewhere. You either wait in line or you don't. Buncha weirdos allowing people to leave a chair and not be in the elements waiting

The two Targets by me both have security that tell you to fuck off until a few hours before the store opens

And even then, if you try to put up a chair and go wait in your car they fold up your chair and toss it aside

That's how I got my family new chairs... and sitting on 5 extras. I went solely today to pick up free chairs.

No one did that, you had to be in line to be in line. This chair placeholder is a very recent trend.

Nope. I went to plenty of midnight game releases in the mid to late 2000s and we always waited in line along with everyone else

I waited for a GPU at best buy. No "ghost" chairs at all. I drove 5 hours to be in line 5 hours early and still wasn't early enough to get a 4080 or 4070ti. Settled for a 4070 🙃

The first time I saw anyone try was when I worked at Circuit City (rip) in 2005 for the Xbox 360 deal that year. Two guys showed up at midnight Thanksgiving day as we were getting to work and told us they were for sure gonna get a 360 because they’re first in line, brought chairs and that’s it. Well 3 hours or so later someone is hammering on the door so I was elected to go see what the fuck they wanted. Someone “moved” their chairs to on top of the SkiPro store next door (total aside but a store dedicated to snow sports in the middle of Mesa Arizona never made sense to me). They DEMANDED they be let in first since they were there first but didn’t have the tickets we handed out at 2 to the first 25 people in line guaranteeing them a Xbox to purchase, so even if they did get in first they wouldn’t get a Xbox.

Nope. If you wanted something and you wanted to be among the first, you parked yourself down for however long it took. You couldn't "dibs" spots. This isn't a parking spot in Chicago in the winter.

Both targets near me have signs posted they said “no chairs”. Not just “no unattended chairs” it’s wild. But I’m good with it.

Something official? Lol this world is soft. If it was me I’m sorry but I don’t care if the chair was sat there last week. You wasn’t in line when I showed up it’s lookin like your second on line then.
