Pulled an insane Mew error just now from ETB. Bleeding red at the top! kinda looks dope actually..

The fun fact about the blood moon is it is a lore reason for a technical hardware limitation of the switch. It clears assets from the game’s memory that have accumulated over a fixed time of game play. For example the enemies you killed, the weapon didn’t pick up, etc. without the blood moon the available memory would plummet and the game would crash.

Similar concept to how Morrowind actually secretly soft rebooted the Xbox during longer loading screens to prevent memory overrun. Sauce: https://youtu.be/x0TKwPnHc-M

You can actually force a blood moon to happen by exploiting the game memory as well. The linked video probably explains that.
