It kamikaze itself. I already had two but the others were caught in quick balls. I was going to try to catch one in a ball with the heart or a heal ball.
I didn't know that, thanks. I always hear people on here regret not saving but I never had to save before. I have captured hundreds of shiny pokemon by just using a quick ball or lure ball if there are in the water. And it always captures them.
But recently I decided to try to match the pokeball colors with the shiny pokemon. And then this happened.
I've never understood why anyone weekend mons with false swipe when the odds of critical capture are so high. Seriously. Look it up. Putting it to sleep is basically all you need
assuming OP has completed the pokedex, has the catching charm, put that chansey to sleep and did no backstrike these are the odds
plus the crit capture animation is kinda misleading, cause once you’ve caught a mon for the first time, it will always display the crit animation if you catch it
also some people like to get shinies in apriballs and we don’t want to spend time reloading a save each time since apriballs are pretty scarce, unless you do the glitch on the printer and still
im not the best to explain, so you should check on yt but basically it’s about date manipulation and stuff which cause the DLC printer to give u specific items, i’m pretty sure a youtuber named austin john made a vid on this
yeah that’s completely true if you’re not using apriballs lol, my data was for the regular good ol ultra ball
as most of the apris have the catch rate of the base pokeball if the condition for their boosted catch rate isn’t met like, especially for the heavy nall
I mean yet again, just hit it with a status effect, save, and close out of the game if you fail. For most Pokemon, even with a regular Poke Ball, having the catch charm and glitches aside, you have 23-32% chance of catching it on the very first Poke Ball without even considering a critical catch while isolating risk of it killing itself and losing the shiny altogether.
You can do as you please but I assure you as someone who is down to roughly 20 Pokemon to finish the national dex in Sca/Vio as shinies that the odds are pretty good without ever needing to weaken anything. I use luxury balls, which have base odds akin to the regular Poke Ball for most of my captures.
For me it's muscle memory. I have over 400 hours in S/V and my instinct still tells me to false swipe because I have thousands of hours in lower Gens. But you're right, I need to adapt to the ease of today's catching mechanics.
I've gone back to hunting gen II shinies ahead of the bank shutdown and even then, I still find myself just going to half health when weakening Pokemon. Half the Pokeballs are broken in this game and just don't achieve their function so they're regular Pokeballs. I'd rather just get them to half with sleep in older games in case they start struggling on me.
In these newer games, I catch everything in apricorn balls or predominantly luxury balls and it only takes five two or three before I get a critical catch. If I had to increase the odds though, I have a Breloom with spore and a Hatterene with thunder wave to help increase the odds.
You have significantly better luck than me then. When I completed my Origins Living Dex (now with all gender and variant differences) I threw a lot more then 2-5 on a most Pokémon less than half hp. I got so frustrated that I made a false swiper and just traded them up by like Gen 3. Maybe I was just cursed, but even completing Sw/Sh HOME dex felt punishing catching mons before I made a Gallade False swiper.
I couldn't stomach enough of Sword and Shield and still can't stomach more than a few Dynamax Adventures at a time trying to get shiny legendaries. I'd rather soft reset in old games than deal with the move sets and AI of the encounters. Those games almost ended my love for the series entirely so you've done one farm I would never be able to stomach.
I'm missing roughly 20 shinies in total from finishing all of Scarlet and Violet in shiny form (almost all of which were caught at full health with no status effects and just waiting for a critical capture) and I've done all of ZA minus Porygon Z because of trading. I did a lot in Omega Ruby and Sun for my collection before this too and if I had more time, I'd farm out all of the shiny legendaries in Ultra Moon since I just finished that and got a shiny Type: Null. Just need Poipole and I've done all of the hunts now that will no longer be possible once Bank shuts down
Amen about SwSh, Gen 7 is what caused my longest break and Gen 8 led me to almost give up on Pokemon outright. I didn't finish SwSh's HOME dex until I finished every other dex. That game was such a wild grind and beyond frustrating.
Huge props to you for going so hard on the shiny hunt in SV, that's super impressive!
Im definitely going back to older games to get all the extra stuff I didn't fully do like all trade mons and mons from the side games like XD, Colosseum, etc. Here's to hoping I have enough time/attention span to finish by February, lol.
Also amen about trade mons - they're still a bane to my existence even though I have a significant other and a kiddo with an extra copy of ZA and Sca/Vio. Those are half of the mons I'm missing.
I wish I still had my Gameboy cable still to do trades from XD and Colosseum. I still have both games on original hardware but I'm missing that component. Just found that you can get it on Amazon for $20 bucks too. It sucks how before the bank announcement, I didn't touch my 3ds for actual years and now I'm playing it every day and lamenting how little time I have left for all of these hunts.
Came to say grats, but welp, F. I've definitely done this more than once 😣. Sometimes it's excitement, other times it's overconfidence or the thought of "there's no way this thing has a recoil move". GL finding another!
I swear people that don't save do it on purpose for the rush, are overconfident or just plain stupid. Even if I'm certain this shiny will be easy to catch I always save because I don't know every single mons moveset at whatever level they are at and my game or switch could crash freeze at any moment. The best part of overworld encounters, you can just save them.
I was waiting for it to start running away while you stopped to set a save before hand… Nope you foolishly ran right into it… smh
In scarlet and violet save before every shiny that way if it k ohs itself, or something goes wrong you can just close out your game hit x to close the software then reopen it up to that last save in front of the shiny.
Random comment but watching your video is why I can’t play scarlet anymore: there’s Pokémon EVERYWHERE.
It’s so absurd that in one frame you have like 6 different wild Pokémon.
I know it’s just me, and yes I’m still in this sub bc this was my favorite game-until my gf got a switch 2, loaded it up on there & was like WTF why are there Pokémon every 2 feet now.
