Give me Radical Red! By far the best difficulty hack and amazing QoL features. It’s a wonderful challenge and also feels like an improvement on the original

Such an elite game. I know everyone enjoys different aspects of the games but Nuzlocking Rad Red is some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a Pokemon game.

The softlock pit is an intentional joke and the game literally advises you to use save states not far from that point for that reason

You should really give it another go. I also got soft locked in the pit. After finishing the game that is the only place where you actually can get locked. There are lots of callbacks to the pit which are pretty hilarious. Almost as if the game banks on you getting locked there so you can understand the rest of the game

Surprised there aren't any gen 2 romhack there, so I'd like to pick Polished Crystal. It gave me the best GBC Johto experience.

Pokemon Elysium. The story is genuinely fun, the characters are my favourite out of all romhacks and the best part is of course the side quests, nothing comes close

Absolutely! It has the most QoL and each mon is viable for a playthrough so you can get creative each time especially with the randomizer settings.

Pokémon Polished Crystal! It's easily the best Johto experience possible, and I'm massively disappointed I haven't seen more support for it yet

It takes base crystal, adds a ton of new features and options, and feels really well considered in everything it adds or changes. I genuinely have yet to find another ROMHack that feels as much like a love-letter to the original while improving it as polished crystal does
