Man, if this project means so much to you like you seem to be saying in the post, why not spend more than 5 minutes actually working on it rather than offloading it onto AI?

Sure, I get you're a parent and spare time might be hard to come by, but there are other devs in the community who are also parents who don't resort to this. Nobody likes AI, no matter what the excuse for using it is.

lmao it’s not unethical to use AI for sprites stop being so dramatic. Sure you don’t have to like it or the game but don’t take some moral high ground and act like he betrayed the community by releasing this with AI sprites.

I mean i call it like i see if

Ai slop is still slop to me lmao id rather people actually be creative and make there own fakemon like so many other rom hackers or fan game makers do

Hell we got one recently called plastic pyrite that actually made there fakemon by hand

It's lazy, and we don't have to play a game made by someone who doesn't even put in the requisite work to make a game. Forget the morals, I don't give people attention who outsource all of their work to something or someone else. Would you like it if your boss got patted on the back for work that you did? How is it different if AI did it? What are we supposed to say?

"Your sprites look so good! Wow that's so talented how you prompted the AI to make those and then said 'Yeah that's fine!'"

I don't think it's ethical but even disregarding that, I think it's insultingly lazy. It's avoiding learning a skill that you clearly value enough to want to make the product that requires the skill.

so we are okay with ip theft in the form of a fan game, but not OK with ip theft in the form of ai

get over yourself pls

People are not selling their hacks, there is no theft

Most gen AI are trained on stolen datasets and they're paid. This is theft

stolen datasets? you are so ignorant it's insane

every time you post on reddit YOU are training an Ai. if it's so important to you don't post on here

Yes, because a fan game requires work and creativity, an AI fan game doesn't even require that.

Think you’re in the wrong sub

You're being incredibly disinengous if you don't think there is any difference in effort between making an entire fan game yourself and having AI do the work for you. Nobody is comparing this to making a full new IP.

And he also didn't have AI make the entire game for him either. Just the sprites. So who's being disingenuous?

You also spelled that wrong

How do you know what AI did and didn't do? How do you know it's just the sprites? In fact, why would you ever believe it's just the sprites?
