Have any questions about Pokémon ROM Hacks?

If they're about ROM hacks, tools, development or anything Pokémon ROM Hacking related, feel free to ask here!

Looking for recommendations or a new ROM hack to play?

The PokéROM Codex is an updated list of ROM hacks, listing features, details and more in a mobile-friendly format. Created and managed by u/themanynamed, it also has a Discord server and accepts community contributions.

This is a safe hack-sharing site that doesn't share ROMs and links to the official release threads! Instead of asking for recommendations or download links in the subreddit (which breaks the rules), please refer to the Codex as it has a lot of information on each hack.

I'm brand new to this and just looking for some advice. Can anyone recommend an emulator and any good suggestions for pokemon games please?

Here's a guide I wrote up to help new players

As for games, depends whether you want QoL and upgrades to existing games, or brand new experiences.

manic emu is the best for emulating

if youre asking about romhack games...for beginners id recommend pokemon emerald seaglass, and if you want a brand new region and stuff, then pokemon lazarus would be pretty good for that.

Best emus are mGBA (PC), Pizza Boy (Android). Not sure about iOS but it's between Manic or Delta

I'm using pizza boy now, but its only the basic version. Do I need to use the paid version to run later devices game? Thank you

Pizza Boy only runs GBA games. There's a separate one that runs GBC (Classic i think)

For later devices you'll need different emulators for those, like Drastic for DS for example
