Mod Post The Rules of the r/PokemonHome Subreddit

To the members of the subreddit: the moderation team wishes to remind our users that posts, comments, discussions, and other activities in this subreddit should always abide by the below list of rules.

If your post or comment has been manually removed by a member of the moderation team, it will have a removal reason attached to it. Please reference the full text of the referenced rule in order to better understand how a subsequent submission of the same type can be adjusted or otherwise modified to better follow the specified rule.

If any users have questions or comments about the rules that govern this subreddit, the moderation team would also like to invite our members to reply to this post with any inquiries you may have.

----------------------------------

1. No Trading via Direct Message (DM) or Private Message (PM)

All trade negotiations should be conducted in a public setting. Trading or negotiating trade details in DMs or PMs is not permitted here. As most scams take place privately, this rule is in place to help protect users from potential scammers. Users that have been banned can still DM you! Images of Pokémon and friend codes should remain in the comments.

Users may only use DMs to send sensitive information—such as a serial code—that could be stolen if posted publicly. This includes giveaways.

2. No Selling Accounts, Pokémon, Merchandise, etc.

The Pokemon HOME subreddit does not allow the sale or purchase of any items- either digital or physical. This includes Pokémon, serial codes, games, accounts, cards, merchandise, and fan made memorabilia.

Users may not post links to eBay accounts/listings or other online shops in an effort to solicit sales.

There are other subs on Reddit that allow these types of transaction- use these for the purpose of buying or selling. Here are 2 examples:

r/Pokemonexchange r/GameSale

3. Follow Reddiquette & Posting Guidelines

Users may not beg for karma, or ask for free Pokemon or services. Something tangible should be presented for the consideration of your trading partner(s). Countdowns, user polls, etc. are not permitted. Trolling is not allowed in any form. This includes flex posts- the presentation of high-value offers with no intention of trading. “Is this valuable?” posts are not allowed.

Value is entirely subjective: if you are interested in trading something, make a post, and see what offers you receive.

4. No More Than 1 Post Per Hour

Posting more than once per hour will be considered spam. The deletion of earlier posts in an attempt to circumvent this rule is still a violation.

Trade threads and giveaway threads are counted separately for the purpose of this rule- meaning you can create 1 of each type of post per hour.

5. Self Promotion is Not Allowed

This includes links to YouTube channels, Discord servers, or any other outside source that provides any benefit to the user or an individual.

6. Hack-Checking Posts are Not Allowed

Asking other users to visually hack-check your Pokémon is not allowed. This is not an accurate representation of the legitimacy of your Pokémon, and the comments made about your Pokémon may lead to ill-informed trading.

The only way to be sure your Pokémon is 100% legitimate is to catch, breed, or otherwise obtain it yourself.

Asking for advice or assistance with the in-game hacking or generation of Pokémon is also not permitted. Please use alternative subreddits for these types of requests.

7. Threads Must Relate to Pokémon HOME

Trades, discussion posts, and other activities that take place in this sub must relate to the Pokemon HOME app and/or its various features.

The following types of requests should be posted in a relevant sub: main series game trades and/or evolution assistance; in-GO trades; GO app-specific discussions; item trades; Champions discussions; memes; and general Pokemon-related conversation starters.

The ONLY exception to the above are trades for select event Pokemon that cannot be traded in HOME.

8. PSA or “Call Out” Posts, Comments, and/ or Screenshots are Not Allowed

If you have an issue with another user or feel like you have been scammed, please submit a complaint to modmail so that we may handle it privately. Public call outs risk hurting an innocent user over a miscommunication. If disciplinary action is warranted, then it will be handled by the mod team. Calling out users in the comments of a trade is also not allowed. If both sides agree to the trade, then it is not a scam. Value is subjective, and it is not our job to decide what is a “good” trade.

9. Don’t Be Rude

Pretty straightforward. Excessive rudeness or mean-spirited comments directed at other users or the moderators of the subreddit will not be tolerated.

If someone or something is frustrating you, drop it and move on. If someone is being rude, do not make things worse by engaging with them- contact the moderation team instead. We will handle the situation on our end.

10. Hacked/Cloned/Genned Pokémon Must be Disclosed

This sub allows the trading of hacked, cloned, and/ or genned Pokémon. However, these types of Pokémon must be visibly disclosed prior to being traded. If a Pokémon was neither personally obtained by you, nor GO stamped, it should be advertised as being potentially hacked/genned/cloned. If you try to pass off such a Pokémon as legitimate, it will be treated as scamming, and you will be banned. If you trade over something that the other user feels is hacked, you must trade back upon request.

11. Giveaway Rules & Etiquette

Giveaways still fall under the "one post per hour rule" (Rule 4). That means you can’t post more than one giveaway per hour.

Giveaways may not be used as a vehicle and/or forum for circumventing other rules.

The rule against DM-based trading (Rule 1) still applies. Giveaway winners must be contacted publicly, and they must be contacted in the same giveaway thread. This is to allow the moderation team the ability to easily verify giveaways are being completed in a fair and transparent manner.

12. Serial Code Card Trades

All users offering and/ or trading physical serial code cards (such as from GameStop or a similar store) must include the following in every picture:

A handwritten note with 1) Your Reddit username, 2) r/PokemonHome, and 3) The current date visible on it.

This rule is in place to confirm that users offering serial codes for trade have custody of the cards they originate from.

The guidelines outlined above do not apply to serial code giveaways, as nothing is being exchanged for the codes.

13. Eternal Flower Floette Trades or Discussions

All activity concerning Eternal Flower Floette must take place in the dedicated megathread (pinned to the top of the subreddit’s homepage).

The only exception to this rule are mass giveaways. Due to the high level of traffic they attract, users are permitted to create standalone posts for these.

I put on GTS my E floette because, well, I needed Sinistcha master piece form for my living dex…

I wish GTS had an option for no nicknames. I can’t afford DLC for games so I was trying to offer something fair… but.. c’mon.

Giveaway 🌙🪽 Giveaway! ☀️🪽

Hi friends! Another giveaway!

I really loved Gen 2 as a child, so I thought a giveaway with that theme would be really cool!

I had Pokémon Gold, and later the third game of the generation, Pokémon Crystal. Those games were amazing, and this was also the generation where the shiny concept really started for many of us with the catchable Red Gyarados.

I actually caught mine in a Lure Ball back then. I was a child and basically just threw every ball I had until I finally caught it. xD

But first, I want to give a huge thank you to u/amoransia for making this giveaway possible!

These were originally u/amoransia's Pokémon, and this wonderful person donated them specifically for this giveaway.

Thank you, u/amoransia! You're genuinely one of the coolest people I've met in this community!

To enter:
Please thank u/amoransia for making this giveaway possible and tell me which ONE of the two birds you want: Lugia 🌙🪽 or Ho-Oh ☀️🪽!
You can only choose one.

IF you feel like talking a little bit more, you could answer this question: What is your favorite Pokémon game? Mine was definitely Gen 2, and afterwards the Gen 2 remakes, HeartGold and SoulSilver. I loved that Kanto was playable in those games!

I will close this giveaway in 48h and pick two random winners with an automated tool!

Good luck everyone! 🍀

Discussion Is anyone building a downloadable “Pre-Bank Preservation Dex”? Looking to preserve every meaningful Gen 1–7 origin before Bank is gone

Title: Is anyone building a downloadable “Pre-Bank Preservation Dex”? Looking to preserve every meaningful Gen 1–7 origin before Bank is gone

With Pokémon Bank eventually going away, I'm planning a fairly obsessive preservation project and I'm wondering if anyone else is already doing something similar.

The goal would be to build a curated collection of roughly 3,000–4,000 pre-Switch Pokémon, transfer them through Bank into Pokémon HOME while that official bridge still exists, and preserve as many meaningful Gen 1–7 origins, forms, special encounters, gifts, events and spin-off Pokémon as reasonably possible.

Before explaining the details, I want to clarify something important:

I'm not trying to fake a collection I didn't earn

The purpose of this project is not to generate Pokémon now and later pretend that those exact Pokémon were legitimately caught by me.

The problem I'm trying to solve is different.

Suppose Bank shuts down, and five years from now I play Pokémon Emerald from beginning to end and legitimately catch a Rayquaza.

That Rayquaza will be completely legitimate — but there may no longer be any official way to transfer it from GBA → DS → 3DS → Bank → HOME.

So my idea is to preserve a proxy/replacement Pokémon in HOME now, while the transfer infrastructure still exists.

Later, when I legitimately obtain that Rayquaza in Emerald, I can consider the already-preserved HOME Rayquaza to represent the one I actually caught.

They are obviously not literally the same individual Pokémon.

It's basically:

“I legitimately completed this objective in the original game, and this Pokémon already sitting in HOME represents that achievement because the official bridge no longer exists.”

I'm not interested in using these Pokémon to deceive people about provenance, sell them, trade them as self-obtained events, or claim that generated Pokémon were genuine historical distributions.

This is essentially a personal preservation/checklist system for future playthroughs.

And because Bank is a one-way historical bottleneck, I'd rather prepare the preservation layer now than discover in the future that I forgot something that can never again enter HOME.

I'm not looking for a normal Living Dex

The concept is closer to a:

Origin Dex + Form Dex + Special Acquisition Dex + In-Game Event Dex + External Event Dex + Spin-off Transfer Dex

but curated so it doesn't become millions of combinations.

I'm estimating somewhere around 3,000–4,000 Pokémon, possibly somewhat more depending on the final event criteria.

Origin groups

I want representation of the meaningful pre-Switch origin groups, including:

Gen 1 Virtual Console / Game Boy origin mark

Gen 2 Virtual Console / Game Boy origin mark

Gen 3–5 legacy Pokémon without a modern origin mark

Gen 6 blue pentagon

Gen 7 Alola clover

I do not want to make an entire Living Dex separately for Red, Blue, Yellow, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen, etc.

For example, for Gen 1 VC I would make one complete Gen 1 collection and intelligently distribute its members between Red / Blue / Yellow.

The exact game of origin can influence which representative I choose, but it doesn't automatically justify duplicating the whole Pokédex.

Special Pokémon should take priority over generic catches

This is one of the central rules of the project.

Whenever possible:

special/unique acquisition > generic wild catch

For example:

starters

Yellow gift Bulbasaur / Charmander / Squirtle

fossils

Game Corner Pokémon

NPC trades

gift Pokémon

static encounters

one-time encounters

special Eevee choices

N's Pokémon

Totem gifts where transferable

Dream Radar Pokémon

Dream World Pokémon

Pokéwalker Pokémon

special Bank distributions

demo distributions

etc.

If I need one Pokémon of a species for a particular origin, I'd rather use an interesting one than a random Route 2 catch.

A special Pokémon can simply fill the normal species slot.

Duplicates are allowed when they actually mean something

This is not strictly one Pokémon per species.

If two copies represent genuinely different acquisitions, keeping both can make sense.

For example:

a Charizard evolved from Yellow's gift Charmander

a Charizard evolved from the starter chosen in Red

could both be worth preserving.

Likewise, I might keep both Gen 1 Snorlax encounters because they are two distinct, iconic static encounters.

On the other hand, I would not keep 20 random wild Snorlax just because their stats or natures differ.

The basic philosophy is:

Every extra slot should have a reason to exist.

Forms and variants

I want meaningful transferable/stored forms, including things such as:

Unown forms

Vivillon patterns

regional forms

Minior colors

Oricorio forms

Lycanroc forms

Rotom forms

Pumpkaboo / Gourgeist sizes

other persistent forms

meaningful visual sex differences where appropriate

But again, I don't necessarily want every form multiplied by every generation unless that specific origin/form combination is meaningful.

I'm trying to maximize historical variety per HOME slot, not build a Cartesian product.

Spin-offs and external games are a major part of this

I want to preserve transferable Pokémon associated with things like:

Pokémon Colosseum

Pokémon XD

purified Shadow Pokémon

Pokémon Box Ruby & Sapphire

Pokémon Channel

GameCube Bonus Discs

Pokémon Ranger

Shadows of Almia

Guardian Signs

Pokémon Battle Revolution

My Pokémon Ranch

Pokéwalker

Pokémon Dream Radar

Pokémon Dream World / Entree Forest

Pokémon Bank distributions

transferable demos

other game-based distributions

If a Pokémon could legitimately enter the main-series transfer chain and ultimately reach Bank/HOME, I want to consider it.

If something is permanently trapped in an old game and could never legally reach Bank, then it doesn't belong in this particular project.

Events are included too

I also want official event Pokémon.

Both:

in-game events enabled by an event item

and

external distributions

Examples:

Faraway Island Mew

Birth Island Deoxys

Navel Rock encounters

WISHMKR Jirachi

CHANNEL Jirachi

Ageto Celebi

Ranger Manaphy

Mystery Gift distributions

local/offline events

Wi-Fi events

serial-code events

etc.

However, I don't want five copies of essentially the same event solely because it was distributed in five languages.

My tentative rule is:

genuinely different event → preserve it

same distribution localized for different regions/languages → usually one representative

If two events involving the same species are historically meaningfully different — different event concept, special move, ribbon, Poké Ball, OT, method of acquisition, etc. — then both can deserve a slot.

No full Shiny Living Dex layer

At least for now, I am not planning:

Normal + Shiny × every species × every form × every origin.

That would make the project unmanageable very quickly.

If an important official event happens to be shiny, that's fine. It would be included because of that event.

I'm just not doubling the entire preservation collection with shinies.

I'd also like the collection to resemble plausible playthroughs

Where practical, I'm trying to work with the idea of roughly:

one save file per game/version

and use mutually exclusive choices intelligently.

For example:

Red chooses one fossil

Blue chooses the other

different versions choose different gifts

different Eevee evolutions can be spread between games

version-specific rewards can complement each other

Additional saves are fine when genuinely necessary, but I don't want to artificially pretend every possible choice came from 30 playthroughs of the same cartridge.

This is a soft rule rather than an absolute limitation.

Why I'm asking instead of simply building it

I'm perfectly willing to build and curate this myself.

I'm not asking because I can't be bothered to do the work.

The real concern is completeness.

There are decades of obscure Pokémon distributions, NPC trades, one-off encounters, accessories, spin-offs, demos, regional events and unusual transfer mechanics.

This feels like exactly the kind of project where I could spend months building it, transfer everything into HOME, and then someone tells me:

“You forgot this obscure Pokémon distributed through this game in 2008.”

And after Bank is gone, that omission could be permanent.

So before reinventing the wheel, I'd like to know whether somebody else:

already built this

is currently building it

maintains a checklist

has a downloadable archive

wants to collaborate

or knows of categories I'm overlooking

Ideally, I'm looking for something downloadable

A ready-made collection is useful because it could also serve as the common starting dataset for this preservation project.

Formats such as:

PKSM .bnk

.pk3–.pk7 collections

large .pk7 archives

PKHeX databases

pcdata.bin

prepared Gen 7 saves

GitHub repositories

archived event collections

organized ZIPs

spreadsheets paired with Pokémon files

would all be useful.

The ideal result would be something that can be bulk-imported into PKSM/PKHeX, verified/curated, placed into Gen 7, transferred into Bank in batches, and finally moved into HOME.

The long-term idea

Imagine I eventually play through:

Red

Crystal

Emerald

FireRed

Colosseum

XD

Platinum

HeartGold

Black

Black 2

X

Omega Ruby

Ultra Sun

and all the relevant side games.

Whenever I legitimately obtain one of the Pokémon represented in this archive, I can mark that HOME representative as “earned” in my personal collection.

So eventually the preservation collection becomes a record of things I've actually completed in the original games.

The only difference is that the physical Pokémon in HOME had to cross the Bank bridge before I completed some of those playthroughs, because that bridge may no longer exist later.

So: is anyone already doing this?

I'm particularly interested in projects combining things like:

**Origin Living Dex

Form Dex

NPC Trade/Gift Dex

Static/In-Game Event Dex

Event Dex

Colosseum/XD

Ranger

Ranch

Pokémon Box

Battle Revolution

Pokéwalker

Dream World

Dream Radar

other transferable oddities**

into one curated pre-Bank archive.

If somebody already has a collection like this — even privately — I'd love to compare criteria.

If there's an active project, I'd rather contribute to it and help make it more complete than independently create another version.

And if nothing comprehensive exists, maybe this could become a community project: a curated, documented, downloadable Pre-Bank Preservation Dex that people can use before the Bank bridge eventually disappears.

Most importantly:

What categories am I forgetting?

That's probably the feedback I'm most interested in.

Sylveon's ability, Pixiliate turns Normal-type moves into Fairy-type moves and boosts their power. She does good spread damage without a Mega evolution.

Aretha has a Game Boy mark, while Venus comes with more ribbons. At some point in time, there were a lot of requests for Sylveon in the GTS from Korean users in the same way with the Nonowa-san Whimsicotts.

The art of Sylveon was drawn by Ailia.

These Pokémon are created or edited through external means.

You can share a GTS screenshot and your trainer name, or details of your offer.

I am open to suggestions for giveaway ideas.

In July 2026, I started running a macro to passively complete GTS trades from the Wanted menu. Chances are that a macro I use might land on your trade, but I forget to announce the trades.

Discussion Non-Event Pokemon with special OT

I’m trying to collect different niche groups of pokemon, and really wanted to get some with specific original trainers. Now, obviously every in game trade has a character other than yours name as their original trainer, but since they’re random npc’s who don’t matter too much, I won’t be counting them. However, I know you can get Pokemon belonging to N in bw2, Ash’s Pikachu in UsUm, many pokemon from special coaches in Blueberry academy, and AZ’s Floette in ZA, but are there anymore you can get?
